11th place is a set of steak knives.

Only $2500 for 10th place.
15 men still right there with less than 7km. to go.
Can you imagine running a 2:07 and finding all the bagels and bananas gone?!

Some good comments.
https://twitter.com/letsrundotcom/status/1220554774623522816Interesting. They just asked Paula Radcliffe on the broadcast whether times run in Vaporflys should be annulled if the shoe is banned. She said no -- even though she would get her WR back.
"I think it would be very, very harsh to do that, given the number of performances [in the Vaporflys]. There’s too many."
Paula said she didn't want pacers in her WR.
Evidence that the Olympic Marathon is a joke?
This race.
So the men are projected to run 2:06:21. There are 13 guys in the lead pack and we are near 40k.
The fastest time for 12th in any race was 2:07:45 (2012 Dubai). Fastest for 11th in 2:07:28 (2012 Dubai) Fastest for 10th in 2:06;29 (2012 Dubai). Fastest for 9th is 2:06;17 for 2012 Dubai.
Will all those fall?
No way does 8th beat 2012 dubai (2:05:42).
A dozen men still within a second of each other with less than 7 minutes to go!
I think the Vaporflys reduce the chance of a big blowup so you're going to see more depth in races like this or Valencia. Desi said the same thing on the podcast.
Why hasn’t Kosgei’s world record been ratified yet?
So we are past 40k.
This is going to be fun. 1st place is 100k. 10th place pay $2,500.
I think there are still 11 in the lead pack. So one of those guys will get zero in prize money.
A charter plane-full of Ethiopians running slow, about to come in under Rupp's PR.
Kenyan still going to take them all ...
The prize money is cruel 100k fors 1st. 40k for 2nd. Can you imagine finishing 11th and getting nothing?

American fans, get excited. Here comes Jared Ward. It's been 2:09.
Top 11 under 2:07 ...
Was the winner wearing Vaporflys?
You can tell by his singlet the winner does not have a shoe contact.
It looked like:
Nike 1, 3-11 in men.
Adidas 1 in women, all Nike after.
Not bad for Adidas, considering.
