"At one workout in March 2008, when Yoder Begley said she was mourning the recent death of her dog, Salazar told her she was bringing down the rest of the team. The next month, Yoder Begley said Salazar told her that her laugh was annoying him and other runners. Then, she said, he asked her to sign a contract stating that she would not befriend other athletes on the team. Other Oregon project athletes were not asked to sign the contract, as she was led to believe they would."
Matthew Futterman has more on Begley, who details being ridiculed for her weight during her time with the NOP.

All this bravery has me hoping Pete Julian’s stable dominates forever. Apparently everyone in this sport is a fvcking toddler and narc... but only after their ships have sailed.
- W/you & great observation on "... only after the ships have sailed."
- NOP & Coach Sal's contracts are PROFESSIONAL based upon their judgment on what it takes for an athlete to ecme successful. If indeed Amy was given this caveat in the contract then as a PROFESSIONAL she should have known that she was simply a "training prop" versus someone to be nurtured alongside the prime athletes. Not much different than a pacer, a college walk-on, etc. They get into the "show," but have to earn their spurs before the coaches focus on their development. What BS by these ex-NOPsters ... UNPROFESSIONAL! Typical of folks that have never worked a "real job" .... & NO -- coaching the BS Atlanta TC or Grand Valley State, repping Oiselle, leaving w/your parents & doing whatever as a 23-year old w/a Fordham education, doesn't count!
- Yep .... Doot Doot's got it: " Apparently everyone in this sport is a fvcking toddler and narc... but only after their ships have sailed."
