manually entered Strava data doesnt count. its the equivalent of keeping a log with pen and paper.
Forget the pen, in this blokes case it's pencil, so if the figures don't add up he can rub 'em out and redo them.

I can't believe all you shitheads who know nothing about Ben can say such horrible things. He doesn't have to prove anything to you and is a better runner than any of you will ever be. I'm going to his event on Sunday - are you?

No-one is saying "horrible things". We are asking why he refuses to show evidence of these claims.
He has been given a load of expensive free kit and duped people into giving money to the charity and got media attention, yet cannot provide evidence he did this.
If you want to run a marathon a day just for fun and ask for no free gear, no charity donations and no attention, then you dont have to show evidence - but this isnt the case with Ben.
He wont reply to messages now, or explain why he wont supply evidence that he really HAS run a marathon a day for an entire year - because he hasnt!
How do you know the standard of all runners on this forum? I have run many more marathons and ultras than him.
I suggest as many people as possible turn up to his ridiculous event on Sunday, and ask him these questions in public.
I cant, as i'll be running a REAL marathon so will be busy
Looks like it's over. He isn't going to manage a marathon a day this week, never mind all year. All miles this week are genuine, oddly enough.
Hi there.
I'm going to prove all you naysayers wrong by doing a single run with other people and entering the mileage into Strava manually.
When challenged, I will produce witnesses to my run and will be vindicated. All other manual data will then be valid.
You are all tossers and will never realise what I'm up to.

Maybe he's too busy in the buffet line to go for a run.
He'll probably get his mug on TV tomorrow.

I doubt it, all the focus will be on London and no-one will be intetested in this fraud.
Besides, anyone can glance at his Strava stats and see that he hasn't logged 26 miles per day for a year even WITH all the FAKE manual entries. Would he be stupid enough to draw attention to that?
He continues to ignore messages - is it time to call this out publicly on his FB page?
I am not quite getting the ire here. What has he done to anger everybody - not wearing a GPS? Nothing was on GPS a few years ago.
Is he profiting from this in anyway other than getting some kudos from a few mates?

Have you not read this thread?

Scamming free kit from company sponsors and duping the public and getting hero worshipped for lying is okay is it?
No doubt he plans to get a load MORE companies involved after this fake year of marathons ends on Sunday. Hence why WE are stopping that from happening.

People who train for long distances and try to run high weekly mileage know how hard it is and find it insulting when others make claims about their abilities without any evidence.
I am younger, and have been running longer, than Ben Rogers but I could not run 180+ miles for a year without injuring myself. Nor can Ben Rogers. He realised this early on in his challenge and, instead of acknowledging it was beyond his abilities, he began to create false entries on Strava.
It makes be furious to see this.
I have read it, but don't really get it.
Duped people into giving to charity? What a b@stard!!! This monster needs destroying.
What free kit did he get?
You find it insulting that people don't appreciate the effort you are putting in to YOUR hobby because others cheat? You need to focus on internal motivations and not the admiration of others.

Oh dear. You really don't get it.
This guy is seeking the admiration of others, and asking them to donate money, based on claims that he cannot substantiate. He appears to be a fraud, it's as simple as that. You have very right to think that is acceptable but I don't think it is.
Fraud requires some material gain. If he were benefitting financially, i would agree. But i don't believe we have seen that, though do correct me.
At the moment to me he looks like someone who tried to do something big for charity and underestimated the challenge. At that point you either hand the cash back or "carry on", give the cash to charity and no real harm is done. I agree he could probably have come clean and most/all sponsors would still have been happy to forfeit the money.

I said he is a fraud, not that he has committed fraud. The latter would result in some sort of gain, the former is simply deceit:
a person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities.
The harm that he is doing, in my opinion, is to discredit the achievements of the very few people who could actually pull this off. Ben Smith is credible, Ben Rogers is not. In light of the Robert Young controversy people should not get away with making such unsubstantiated claims.
Woe you guys (i say guys you're all a bunch of beta non binary gendered pieces of shit) are unbelievable.
He's an amateur athlete, raising money for charity. What harm is he doing? Even if he was lieing which there is ZERO evidence to suggest he is, so what? Money for charity can only be a good thing.
A bunch of porn addicted tweedy muscled diabetes filled lowlifes.
I've seen more morals in a rabib fox eating a new hatched bird infront of it's loving mother. Complete lowlifes.

I would imagine that the opposite is true. The few who have sponsored him probably cannot conceive of the challenge, let alone name those who have achieved it. At least him bleating on about it might give them some awareness.
I still don't think he qualifies as a POS, nor can i take seriously those who are "insulted" and "furious". He tried something, presumably failed, lied to save face and a charity got some money. Meh.
