It was not free before. The previous compny spent money to be there and to film it. That cost was passed on to Flotrack.
Sure, a free running trail would be nice. But as a nonselfish person, I'd understand that the park is being paid for by someone. It does not exist for free. If the funding circumstances change, then that is an inconvenience for me but that doesn't mean the city or county did anything wrong. Likewise, it does not mean Flotrack did anything wrong. The cost to cover this marathon were passed on to them.
I'm really concerned that so many of you do not know how money works. Also, flotrack has done as much for the running community as anyone else. If not for them, you'd likely never have seen the faces and races of many runners. Has letsrun been providing racing videos, interviews, and flying to meet to meet as much as Flotrack? No. Not anywhere close.
