No Kenyans in the 5000 final, no USA medallists in the 110 hurdles. What can happen next no Jamaican relay medals?

no Russians to qualify from 800 heats
right thanks for a sensible answer - is that for good? on his wiki page it comes across as a temporary switch.

When is the last time this happened at WC or Olympic final?
Kenya boycotted the 1976 and 1980 Games, so it definitely happened those two years.
If things dont work out with Peru he can prob represent Japan. Born there apparently - what a mix!
All of the women bent over after the finish in heat 2.....Semenya walks away unbothered, barely breaking a sweat. The final is going to get ugly, she'll go for the record.
Hassan in the 8 - cool!

The 5k is off. There are two massive heats of 25 and 26.
I'm irate that it's top 5 and next 5. Yes, that encourages people to run fast but a 5k is often tactical.
We think it shoudl be top 6 and 3 or even 7 and 1.
Two guys have gapped the field. If you are in the main pack, you don't want to let 2 guys go clear.
6 + 3 would have gotten Caleb Ndiku (formerly ranked #1 in the world) into the final and David Torrence out.
I agree that 6 + 3 would make more sense.
I can't think of a situation where a 10th place finisher would be more deserving than a 6th place finisher.
What the fook is that in the 800m now for Kenya, looks like the predator, certainly not female.
I think 3 men are going to medal in the womens 800m.
Semenya looked like she jogged the entire race and still won. The other girls looked beat down.
Wambui too
She eased off too much and almost got caught. Nearly gave me a heart attack
Sifan Hassan looked super tired (as expected).

How about when the 10th place finisher runs faster than the 6th place finisher? Which is what happened.
Ndiku should have run faster.
True, but the problem is that the second heat has such a huge advantage. Likely had the two heats been switched Ndiku would have run fast enough to qualify. He's not in the final due to being slower, but due to having had run first.I don't really care though. If Ndiku can't qualify for the final under the rules they've set in advance then that's his own fault.
