I would add from seeing the race recap that Jenkins was also pissed because he's the one who did the work to break the race open, down to 3, with three laps to go, and then Cheserek flies by. Now, I don't think there's anything wrong with racing your teammates all the way, but Jenkins thought he had a deal--and one of them would have been declared national champ anyway even if they held hands at the finish.
It serves him right for buying into something so gay - let's hold hands and finish together in an NCAA, D1 10,000M final? last i checked it was called a 'race'..., not a hand-holding love fest.
It puzzles me as to why these guys (are they a couple) are so afraid to get out there, give it their all and lay it on the line to show the fans who the better runner is. I have never seen anything so fruit-like given the level of talent we are talking about.
Oh, for those of you who think this is 'good sportsmanship,' it's not, in fact it's the opposite. Good sportsmanship is giving it your all, and win or lose being satisfied with the outcome and having the respect and honor to congratulate your competitors - hand holding with your competitor is something you don't even see girls doing at this level!

"King Ches" should be called 'King A*^hole" for that trick. C'mon man, you did zero work in that race, then hang your teammate out there and steal it from him in the last 100. At least act like a man and teammate and tell him you intend to win - take it from 800 out and run hard, and earn it.
If he did that to me I would have slugged him after the race. I'm impressed Jenkins walked off the track without losing his temper right there,
Poppycock. It's a national championship for Pete's sake! You don't deserve your D1 scholarship if you wouldn't give your right arm and leg to win an individual title.
Anyhow, for all of you who think Jenkins has a real shot in a 'real' race, I'm glad his panties are in a twist. Now maybe he'll run with some fire in his belly in the 5K. What will the excuse be when he gets his behind handed to him then? If Ches beats him by 40 meters will you say that that's poor sportsmanship and he shouldn't have rubbed it in poor little Eric's nose?
You are stupid. This is a race with an individual national title. Why run it in and cross side by side? Someone is still going to lose. Why should the better runner have to lose a race? Dumb as hell man , dumb as hell.

For these two, who have professional careers ahead of them, what does this 10K mean? 18 points, that's it.
Ches should follow the unwritten rule that, if you are clear of the field, come in together and let the photo finish decide. Like Cragg and Lincoln. Unfortunately some teammates want the glory - when in reality, at their level, this race, in and of itself, is really not that important.
Now if you are not a clear favorite or contender, and your capability is limited (relative to these 2), then go for it as this may be the pinnacle of your running career.
You don't show respect to each other as teammates by making it harder to score as many points as possible for their team. Although, I would be very happy if i was coach Andy Powell. It means ches really cares about racking up titles and might stay 4 years. I think Jenkins made a natural reaction that he will learn from.

It's not that Che's didn't "let him win" it's the fact he cut him off. If you're going to sprint for the finish at least make it a fair fight and not cut him off, could we agree on that?
How did he cut off Jenkins exactly?
In fact Jenkins was in front coming off the curve and could have picked any line down the stretch that he wanted. I'm pretty sure that Cheserek didn't cut back to the rail after passing, but simply went around Jenkins who wasn't able to move out, and he wasn't going to pass Cheserek at that point anyway.
Jenkins comes off as a whiny crybaby. I don't care for the sit and kick tactics, but hope Cheserek kicks his butt the next time.
The fact that people don't agree with the idea of finishing together is irrelevant. The point is that if two teammates DO decide to finish together before a race, or are instructed to do so by their coach, and then one of the teammates does no work, sits on his teammate, and b!tch-kicks him at the line, the runner in second has a right to be frustrated

I saw them cooling off together during the 4x400 so they he cant be that pissed at chez. Anyways I thought Jenkins should've won, but chez passed him and cut him off a little. he couldn't get back quick enough cause there were slower runners in lane 1.
It was blatently (sp) obvious that King Ches squeezed Jenkins into the lapped runner (the Michigan dude) at the top of the home straight............that is what Jenkins is pissed about.

This is the correct answer
Am I the only one who saw the words National championships, is this not a race, have NCAA athletes and coaches, become so Dang soft that people are actually butt-hurt over not finishing together?
This is horse crap, or Duck crap Jenkins shuld have realized that when Ches passed him on the bend.
Point being distance coaches, stop making our athletes a bunch of wusses, and teach them not to cry.
Finishing together, lets hold hands, Pre is rolling over in his grave.

You're referring to Jenkins, I assume.

Yes that's either Ro or We.
so incredibly NOT badass
Ches is a great athlete though and there are not around 1,000 other Kenyans who could also beat some American college kids!
I still think it is a stupid discussion. In the end there would never be co-winners declared, what is the real difference here.Ohh, good team mate protocol? Really?
And if Jenkins is blowing a lot of smoke about going all out tonight, it had better be a convincing win ...what would be even funnier if after discussions...Ches smacked him..stopped one meter from finish and waved for him to hurry up and let him cross first.
Seriously? I get the run in together thing.. but, in the end it is still an issue, as who decides who gets the title ...ten years from now there will still only be one name listed.
You mad, son? 10K/5K champ King Ches says sorry, not sorry!

Ches will always be superior to Jenkins. Any day, any time, any year. Ches was just toying with him. Jenkins can get pissed, but when it comes down to it, Ches is clearly the better runner
