BS.
There are not any degrees to free speech. You are either for it or against it.
If you are for it, you know you will occasionally be exposed to something that offends you. You then have the option to ignore it or not expose yourself anymore to it. The occasional offensive piece is the price you pay to be free to express and say what you believe.
If you are against it, then you have to realize you will be exposed to events like today. You have nothing to do with the event, you wouldn't wish it on anyone, but whenever you espouse random, individual standards on anything you get people who think they can dictate policy for everyone by any means they see fit. That is what we saw today.
Post a montage of all of them.
The appropriate response to terrorism to do the thing the terrorists don't want you to do. Don't answer it with violence, or hate, or bigotry. Answer it with peaceful defiance of the terrorist's will.
It's a tough one but I would say don't publish.
I'd be offended to see this on the home page
http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2015-01/7/10/enhanced/webdr05/enhanced-8799-1420645882-8.jpg
and I'm sure Muslims would find the other ones offensive.
I'd go as far as saying it is wrong to do so. Two wrongs don't make a right. We learnt that in Elementary School.
The difference is of course, I, and other LetsRunners aren't going to kill over it.
I don't know much about Charlie Hebdo but I am thinking that they offend just for the sake of it. I don't think I would have been a fan. They do have courage though. No denying that. Would you normally support them or is it their right to free speech? If not them, then why start now. Support free speech. You don't do that by posting two offensive cartoons.
Take a stand. by leaving public comment as you normally would befitting to who you are. Live your life as you normal. Is it in your character to post offensive cartoon? Don't change you behaviour as a result of terrorism.

Shame on the media outlets that have published pictures of the cartoons with the picture of Mohammed blurred out (NyDaily News, Telegraph, etc)

Hi Wejo, in the name of frenchmen, I would like to thank you very much for the support.
This tragic terrorist act has been very tough for the press and freedom of speech liberties in France.
The support from all other the world will enable us to fight against terrorism and allow us to maintain the freedom of speech.

They're f-king offensive. Very offensive. The one with Muhammad being bent over with his posterior in the air like some porn actress. Did they f-king think this was going to sit well with Muslims? What value did this have? They just embarrassed themselves. These people are not journalists. They were basically doing this for shits and giggles which I find patently offensive.
Are you that dumb? Do you any friggin clue what freedom of spreech, freedom of press are?
You embarass yourself with this idiotic post.
All the trolls who say we shouldn't offend any are exactly the type that the terrorist have control over. It's embarassing.
And now it appears even the Brojos are backing down. Why bring it up only to cower later?

I say, if the Brojos are willing, I'd personally be 100% in favor of showing the cartoons. I'd like to see gigantic billboards everywhere with the cartoons. Show cartoons that are insulting to Christianity too. And Jews. Religion is moronic. Nobody needs to be respectful towards another person's right to be a total moron. The sooner religion can be stamped out, the better.
Just think, a mass slaughter and now a major manhunt in France, ALL OVER SOME STUPID BEING WHO DOESN'T EXIST! F**king morons.

Maybe we'll publish this one side by side then:
http://www.christianophobie.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Charlie-Hebdo.jpgIf we do that some might say we are backing down in our attempt to criticize the people who committed this crime. I don't want this thread to deteriorate to a discussion of our moderation of religious threads. Email me directly on that.
But definitely discuss if we should have on the splash page only a cartoon satirizing Muslims or if we should have one for Christianity as well.
"A" for effort, but that is an awful idea. Christians are criticized by all types of media all the time. Are you also going to publish cartoons about atheists (often the most ideological and ignorant of all), and people of other religions? The issue here is MUSLIMS trying to restrict free speech. If you publish an anti-Christian cartoon that is just picking on an easy target in order to water down the real issue.
Beyond comical. Nice touch on pretending you don't know who I am (first time poster, right? very funny)And double points for the "You've got MAJOR issues and are mentally unbalanced, and that's on a good day" line and then posting that unhinged, insult-laden (you have a fascination with "butts" ?) rant of yours. Outstanding! What happened, did the "coward" label hit too close to home? Also: I didn't say you posted under different names on *this* thread: just that I am sure you change your name. (should we ask wejo to confirm that?)Anyway, even if somehow you are not the biggest offender in the "new post, new name" nonsense, my point was: most, if not all, of the people telling the brojos and others to "TAKE A STAND FOR FREE SPEECH!" are not willing to a) post under their real names ( I don't either, but I am not telling anyone to take a stand), or even b) post under the SAME anonymous name! (and yes, that matters, because it forces people to take responsibility/accountability for their posts, and leaves them open for assaults by the "message board terrorists" who cowardly take pot shots and then hide under a new name). It's funny, and you know it. Take a damn stand yourselves. (p.s., no need to start a new paragraph with every new sentence. I'm not sure what's that all about, Mr Internet Tough Guy).

First, unless you are a moderator, how would you know who posts what under what name?
Second, put your money where your BIG mouth is you lowly coward who hinds behind a keyboard.
Wejo and Rojo, you've got the power. Please shut this coward up and check my IP. I posted once.
I'll bet any amount of money against "butt boy t-rex" that I posted once on this thread, ONCE. That was the post that t-rex, butt boy, responded to.
Please do me a huge favor and post the truth so nutjob can be officially outed.
I assume he's a moderator with all of his posts and he'll just delete this because he'll look like an A$$.
And for the record t-boy, you'll be found out one day for the coward that you are, but in the meantime, feel free to look me up coward and we'll see what you're made of...certified wimp:) LOL! LOL! LOL!

C'mon dude, you won't even stick to one anonymous name on here. You seriously don't the see disconnect between urging others to be courageous and take a stand that could risk their lives and hiding behind continually changing names?
Really? What other post do you think belongs to me?
Seriously?

wejo linking something from huffingtonpost.com??! A strange day indeed, my friends. Hope that doesn't get the brojos disowned.
You'll publish that but your mods delete anything pro-Democrat or anti-Republican within minutes??? Let both stand, within reason.

C'mon, bro, stop the charade. I didn't say "on this thread." "Frank N Sense" is the only name you ever post under? Right...and this is your first post on letsrun ever. Great. Welcome to the nut house (really, just stop).

ah yes. thinking that religion is dumb and has no place in society makes us smarter than those phonies. give yourself a gold star
you need to be responsible for the things you say, and how they are received (obviously). just because you act like a d-bag but don't think you are a d-bag, doesn't mean other people will automatically thing that you are not in fact a huge d-bag.
posting those images would be in as poor of taste as it would be to post any other offensive image on a site like LR. its easy to sit back and make snide remarks about religion but you wouldn't do that to someones face. good for you (seriously).
killing in the name of religion is wrong, we get that. people aren't debating that fact by saying that these generally stupid and unfunny cartoons written in the name of 'satire' we're crossing the line. its good to cross the line sometimes but look what has happened. people retaliated, and not from behind a computer screen.
TL;DR this whole scenario seems to be a contest for which group can be the most butt-hurt

Is really necessary for me to explain to you that you said "there are not any degrees to free speech" and that I demonstrated that, legally, in fact there are, and was simply asking you if YOU supported such laws since you claimed these "degrees" did not even exist?
Are you senile?

well this paper also re-published at some point the original danish cartoons that got things so heated (right?). So it might also be those cartoons.
wejo, make this your splash page (if you think this is an important cause)-
