Who else but a relatively unnoticed $100B company like Nike cares about our sport? NYC has a $5T economy, LA $4T, SF $3T, Tokyo $9T, London $2T, Beijing $3T, ... but nobody in those towns care about us.

I see what he is saying. She does come off a bit rude. Goucher has said in the past that no one wanted to coach her, that they begged Salazar, he agreed, and she was so grateful. Now after she's made her cash, she is willing to throw him and Nike under the bus. They had no problem keeping quiet when they were getting paid.
I don't think the tweet meant much at all but I do think it was childish on her part.
Thank-you, this right here ^^^
she wouldn't even be where she is now without Salazar and Nike
They came in, signed a nice contract with her, she got coached by arguably the best distance coach in the world, she runs all these great times, and is placing really high at top tier and international meets, then all of sudden, she wants to go to Schumacher complaining about Salazar, then Nike drops her, and now she's throwing Salazar and Nike under the bus
Are we the only ones or does it sound kinda cruel that she had so many opportunities, a company that provided her with a comfortable financial support, and coach that got her so many accolades, and then she turns on them?
And also, I'm really getting sick of this whole Oiselle girl power, speak your mind bullcrap, her and Fleshman; it's been the only way that her and Fleshman have even been making headlines, not their times, and we just keep on feeding them attention
Again, how can you possibly think she is throwing Nike or Salazar under the bus with that tweet?! That is the crux of your argument and it is based on your poor comprehension

I heard from a friend, who heard from a friend who trained with NOP for a while that Kara Goucher has firsthand information about drug use within NOP. What I don't understand is why she doesn't just come forward with this information rather than post on Twitter.
While this rumor mill information means nothing...
How much you wanna bet when she signed with the team they made her sign some sort of non-disclosure act.
Again, how can YOU not? How old was that "We Run Dirty" poster? If it was within the last year, then I can see your point, though I still think it's a shot. I'm guessing that poster is pretty old. She is drudging up old material for what exactly? To be funny? She's not funny. It looks childish at best, malicious at worst since its her old golden goose. Me thinks you are very close to her.
and me thinks you are a nike troll.

I've never spoken to Kara in my life, and I have no connection to her, Schumacher, Oiselle, Colorado, or whatever else would make you think I am biased.
The slogan is CURRENTLY in use by the Nike trail running team, so no she didn't dredge up some old poster to take a shot at Nike. So again you are coming from a faulty premise.
http://www.nike.com/us/en_us/c/running/trail-runningShe didn't even take a shot at Nike. She's not implicating anyone on Nike is on drugs. She merely pointed out that our sport, which has had large doping busts recently, may not be best served with an advertisement saying "we run dirty". Whether or not you agree is up to each's opinion, but whether or not it is malicious is not. It's a shot at the slogan, not the company. You're only seeing it as a shot at Nike because you've painted a picture of her being bitter and vindictive, so that is how you view everything she says. I bet you thought the ice vest gimmick quote was a shot at Salazar too, when in reality she was giving Alberto credit.

Actually can't stand Nike, their seemingly heavy-handed influence in USATF decisions and appeals, I never liked to wear their shoes, and I can't stand Oregon in particular.
But, Kara needs to find some other way of garnering attention. How about running fast instead of picking out her old company, the same company that argued to get her husband an exemption for the 10,000 trials and paved her retirement?
Precisely. The more Kara and the whole Oiselle flock of birdies chirp off on everything, the more respect I lose for them. Instead, take a page out of Shalane's playbook..Comment when necessary and let your racing and running speak volumes for you. Shalane is a real role model on and off the track.

This pretty much hits the nail on the head for me. I don't think Kara meant anything like has been implied in this thread, but I do think many would be well served to take a page out of Shalane's book and make headlines for their running.
Look man, I see your point. I still think to go out of her way to comment with a hint of sarcasm or insinuation regarding a trail running poster, when trail running is nowhere near her wheelhouse, is trying to make a comment, however subtle.
I agree with other posters about Shalane. That's the person to emulate, not Kara, and, no, I don't dislike Kara.
Shalane has been the biggest BS Media whore in the industry.
1. She guaranteed a Victory in Boston because "she wanted it more than her competitors" A statement that was disrespectful as heel to her competitors but it garnered a 60 minute story. She finished 7th so we know it was either naïve or stupid or just for press. The pre race hype was much larger than the result.
2. She knew she was fit enough for an AR in Berlin and made sure that all of the media was aware. She was not close but once again got the ignorant press to bite. The pre race hype was once again larger than the result.
So in her last 2 marathons her legs were not able to back up her mouth.
Of course you are going to see a slight when there is none, because while you may not dislike Kara, you looked at her tweet under the false assumption that she is trying to grind an axe instead of looking at it objectively.
1) Because of this assumption, you thought she dug up this old poster, "went out of her way", etc. You were proven wrong there.
2) Because of this assumption, you thought the gimmick comment was a shot at Salazar instead of a compliment - wrong again.
3) Because of this assumption, you said she should just "shut it and trust the system", as if she is accusing Nike of cheating. That is not at all what the tweet says: "Due to recent doping scandals, @NikeRunning might want to rethink this ad campaign."
Shalane is awesome. We can agree on that. But you are wrong that we should blast Kara OR think she was taking a shot at Nike with her comment. How hard is it to believe that she saw the poster/website/slogan somewhere, thought to herself "'We run dirty'?! Come on - that's idiotic", and tweeted about how it is dumb. You are saying that is an impossible scenario, and trying to paint a picture of her scouring nike ads trying to find something ambiguous to make a passive aggressive doping claim about. That attitude is pathetic. Seriously, just take a step back and read the damn tweet and tell me where I'm wrong. It didn't just say that Nike specifically shouldn't have that slogan - it said due to recent doping scandals it is probably a poor choice. It didn't say recent Nike doping scandals, just doping scandals. I think if she wanted to take a shot at Nike, she did an awful job.

We agree!!!
The 'Tard is strong in this thread, even by LRC standards.
First, Kara did not make a joke that anyone who follows the sport and owns a camera phone couldn't have made. There was not a hint of "I know more than I am saying" in this. Active track athletes often make far more foreboding observations than this.
Second, the very way this thread has unfolded is a perfect example of why she's be crazy to go public with any such information even if she has it. She's being ripped apart by the usual sackless morons as it is. You're telling me that if she did come out and expose what she knew that the same people hankering for information would just sit back and say, "Glad that's over with and on the table now"? Bullshit. You'd all be shouting that she's a washed-up bitter athlete taking shots at Nike for dumping her and at the athletes who started beating her or got better contracts, etc. Because that is how this place works, and how wejo and rojo, those seekers or page impressions and shepherds of trolls, like it.
The fact that Kara isn't scared of Nike's sports marketing department blows my mind. And this is the type of company that would do something similar like with Russia-IAAF Alberto-USADA
