I agree, its not good on a phone. My screen is dominated by headers, quote boxes, and ads. I am constantly scrolling to find new posts.
The only thing I really dislike is that when a page loads, it leaves a blank space on the right side of my screen, maybe like 10% of the width. I can zoom in and it fits perfect. I'm on a crappy LG phone (but this is my usual viewing device). If that was fixed it would be near perfect, for an anonymous message board full of trolls.
I'd send a screen shot, but I'm phone illiterate.

I assume you are not trolling bit the forums are multuple times better on my phone. Before they were impossible to use on a phone.
The changes for desktop are meant to be minor, the main idea was to have mobile friendly pages.
So if you are not trolling can you email me some screen shots or post what type of phone you have.
Wejo@letsrun.comThanks.
Wejo on my phone I can only see a few threads on the screen at once time. You used to be able to see tons and didn't have to slowly scroll everything and they were in an easier to read format. Sent a screen shot. Posting itself may be better. I didn't even try because finding threads to read was too annoying on the iPhone compared to the iPad.
Looks like garbage on IE5/WinME.
;)
Please remove the yellow. It's truly evil and makes reading more than a few threads tiring.
It is not yellow. It is mellow-yellow.
The new message board looks great on my Windows 8.1 desktop and my Nokia Lumia Windows phone. I like that it keeps most of the old look and feel. Good job!
About the ads... the autoplay videos are so obnoxious I installed adblock plus to get rid of them. It's too bad because over the years I've clicked on ads and made purchases many times. Now I don't see any ads and letsrun pages load faster and use less bandwith. I do miss some of the good deals I used to get on letsrun.
Nice work, Erik. On an iPad, it's much better.
it would be nice if you could 'Like' a post - then order based on popularity
I just got to this now. I read the first to pages and skipped to page five (the end at the point of writing this). I like it better than before. The text is crisper and the colors are better, with the offset between the current post and quoted material a modest but important difference in shade helping the overall look and easy of reading.
I have gotten to like being shifted to the last part read, although when I close my browser I have it erase links so I only get part of the benefit. I usually use Firefox (and am doing so now), and almost never use IE. I might comment more after having used the new interface for a longer period. I do like the "main forum" and "sub-forums" at the top.
Thanks for the updates to the website, fellas. It looks good.
Also, please, please do not bring the automatic audio ads back.

For an example of how well this works, go on stock posting board, investorvillage.com and take a look. They have a nice system which gives users the opportunity to PM (private message) each other, recommend posts, screen for user's posts, etc.
I go on LetsRun every day multiple times and read/participate these boards.
Comments?
Here is a link:

On that site you have to click on every individual post like LRC in the old days.
I thumbs up is a good idea.
Another thing that needs to be fixed -
It used to be the case that whenever you went to reply to a post, the 'Name' section would autofill with the name you last used to reply to a post.
This is not the case anymore. As someone who does not have a consistent user name this is annoying. It fills in with the same name every time even if you just made a post under a different name.

+1. Looking much better overall, but this idea ^ would help.
+2
it would be great to find good posts that way, and cause a competition to get more likes.

There's no code that autofills a username, so this is likely a browser config issue.

This only happened after the update last night. It wasn't doing this early yesterday before the update. Strange.

Not necessarily. It could be the case that the name field is now different enough that certain browsers don't recognize it as being the same thing they have autofill data for.
Another bug, but this one's been here for a while:
Page memory broke the back button. Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the first page of a multi-page thread.
2. Go to the next page.
3. Go back.
Expected: You see the first page.
Actual: You see the page you were just on.
This is really annoying.
The Reply/Return to Index/Report Post does not need icons and words. Just use the icons. Anyone who doesn't already know that an icon of a home takes you to the homepage will simply learn by clicking the icon. Speaking of the home (return to index) link, it's not necessary to have that on every post. The "report post" and "reply" are post-specific, but "return to index" is not. I also suggest you change the color of the icons to a lighter shade. The black is distracting.
Another suggestion is to distinguish registered users' posts. I like that wejo, rojo, erik, etc. have their title under their username and thinks something similar should be done for registered users. It would also be cool to have the username link to that's user's previous posts and threads. There are a lot of regulars here that I try to keep track of because I care about what they post, so this would make it easier.
