Sophia Rodriguez (8) won the Open race at NXN NE by over a minute in 18:40.
To put that into perspective, the top times in the Championship race were 18:30, 18:43, 18:49 and 18:57 and the top times in the NY race ranged from 18:24 to 18:40 (7th).

should probably also mention that she holds the two mile record now so literally the current fastest 8th grader of all time. also, just busted a 16:51 5K in the rain at the Penn Relays yesterday.

She was impressive in that 5000. She should be good for 20-30 seconds faster in good conditions.
She just ran 450 at the Hoka meet traveled 900 miles and ran 1622 at a pa 5k distance festival the next day. My daughter is an 8th grade pa runner so we see Sophia race a lot. Obviously she is unbelievable but there is no need to race that much. Super curious to see how high school pans out. Her sister developed and slowed down...no hate there. I am a female.

I think she's proving how to do it and is racing half as much as the competition. Her profile only shows half a dozen races whereas the girls as fast as her in the country have over 24 races over 1600/3200m!!! Her sister just set personal bests in every distance this season as a sophomore running 2:20, 5:00, 10:50, so you might be looking at wrong Rodriguez. There is a website called MileSplit that has their profiles and stats.
