I think you'll find there's no evidence that HGH actually does this. As long as you're saying "very similar to Lance", you should be looking at testosterone, EPO, and blood transfusions first and foremost, not some unproven drug that impairs endurance.
Similar to Lance, as in EVERYONE knows he was and is still dirty.
Laget is on drugs....
Why does he run fast only in USA? Regina Jacobs......
Geb has had lots of injuries. He has had surgery. He has had to change his running style at some points. He is wealthy and can afford all the right treatment for the various ills and ailments that befall runners. As well, he doesn't give up, that is the big thing. Many North American runners just give up...aches and pains, a week off becomes a month becomes a year, etc. North American runners often place running below starting a family, getting a degree they can brag about, etc.

1. A coach that fits the program to the athlete, rather than the other way around, just like Clyde Hart with Michael Johnson.
2. Doubles only one day a week.
3. 50-60 mpw (and Dr. Li understands that Lagat CANNOT handle much mileage).
4. Move up in distance by increasing...the intervals.
5. Everything fast.
Then how do you explain Geb's longevity? He basically does the opposite (doubles, high mileage, etc.)

lagat has taken a long term approach to his career, which is different, and that is admirable, but you just don't stay fast, or flexible or able to stay healthy (musculoskeletally or systemically) year after year without some kind of chemical assistance, i just don't believe it.
i want to believe it, but its too fishy.
Lagat is not even one year older than Lopes was when he broke the world record for the marathon and destroyed everyone at the world cross in 1985. Why do you think that Lagat is on drugs and that Lopes was clean?

Perhaps you should read the entire thread and search for all the other threads dealing with Lagat´s so called "failed drug test".
You have roid rage. Do you always claim to actually know things you couldn't possibly know? I wasn't even personally responding to you.
Plus I know for a fact that Bekele's world records came from eating exactly 118 lemon head candies per day. No more and FOR GODS SAKE NO LESS! If you eat exactly that many, your spleen turns into a solid block of epo.

Because by 1986 when Lopes was 39, the guy was completely done.
how did lopes do nothing until he was 30
i don't recall anything similar among competing athletes
Lopes was done shortly after his WR Marathon because he had done everything he wanted to do in running and his old Achilles trouble had flared up again.
He won WCC and Olympic silver at 29 so he had hardly done nothing before 30.
He was running the wrong event and likely not doing the best training for him until he was older.
So many haters. Can't handle the fact that Lagat will go down as the greatest American distance runner ever.

You would have thrown away the key on Mr. Arledge.

His lifetime bests at 800m, 1500m, One Mile, 3000m, and 5000m were all set in Europe. Regina Jacobs ran in a different time. Last year should serve as notice that no one is above the law.

By being an American citizen instead of a Kenyan national.
Think about it, he is running American records, but he is slower than the fastest Kenyan or Ethiopian times in a given year. While he makes American national teams, would he have made Kenyan National or Olympic teams? Probably not. He gets nice indoor wins in the US, but he isn't running away with European Diamond League meets (he has nice showings, but rarely wins and is far from dominant).
Since he is running at the top of the national class, he has the incentive to continually train and compete. If he had to grind it out among Kenyans, he might have retired or moved up in distance to the 1/2 and full marathon years ago.
He is also running ARs for indoors. Most international elites don't focus on indoors. Also, his recent record is a 2000m record; it is not a distance that is raced that often. It is a bit of an outlier; not the same as running a 3:47 mile indoors. His current outdoor times are slower than what they were when he ran for Kenyan. Although he can pop off a fast 5000m, I would bet that he could have run a faster 5000m in 2003-04 if he trained for the events.
His moderate mileage probably contributes to his longevity. He has great genetics as well. There is no need to go to the well if what you are doing moderately is producing elite results. There is the factor of diminishing returns. Might run a second or two faster, but might be injured. Pushing the envelope makes sense if you are 3:58 trying to get down to 3:53. Push the envelope to get from 3:53 to 3:52? Might not be worth it.
Not all runners need high mileage (although I would normally agree that most do). Kip Keino was at the top for a long time and had good range. According to some literature, his mileage was equivalent to Lagat's.

Are you trolling or just stupid? Train properly and you won't get injured. Keep doing that and you will stay fast and flexible way past 40

No need to listen to the input from the guy who denies the FACT that Lagat had a gap in his teeth.
They guy is on PED's!!!!!!!! I just wish the people defending Lagat knew all the details and truth. I'll say it again, it's just like lance. Everyone who is someone of importance in Track & Field knows he is dirty.

Lagat's gap in his teeth was man made. Why do people keep harping on about that?
