You're right - how could I forget Suzy?
I guess with everything that's happened with
her, I kind of forgot about her running accomplishments..

Maybe consider some of the current college guys like Bayer and Zenesallasie and Mudd
Bayer has graduated.
You could include David Neville for the 400 as well. Olympic Gold in the relay and individual Bronze in 2008.
If we are thinking sprinters, we have to include Maciel Malone. Didn't she win some Olympic and world champs medals in the relays?
Depending on how Futsum Z. and Austin Mudd progress, they could be the best ever from the state.
And I would not include Spivey as being from Indiana.
We have some good, young females breaking all the state records in recent times. Waverly Neer, the Neeley sisters, Anna Rohrer. It is yet to be seen if they will perform as professionals.

Keith Brantley?
Arguably on Men's side, but Jenny Simpson I think overall.
Washington State -
Nick Rogers is the fastest from our state, 13:18 5k and 27:55 10k.
Texas
Colby Lowe
The NY Olympians I competed against in HS and club and adds to the list of fast dudes we can pick from
Larry James
John Carlos
Byron Dyce
Bob Beamon He jumped too ;)
Jose l'Offical
Michigan
Is Ritz really better than Todd Williams?
They both set American records, both went to the Olympics, both ran well in college. May be a generational thing. Herb Lindsay was never able to get it right on the track.

For born and bred in Massachusetts, the best I can come up with is Jonathon Riley.

He moved into MA from NY early in high school I believe

He actually ran quite well after HS.
Though never running in the Olympics, his 3:52 & 13:15 are as impressive now as they were when he ran them in the 1970's.
Liquori made the 1968 Olympic team at 1500m
World Rankings 5000 meters
1978 2nd Liquori
1977 1st Liquori
1975 3rd Liquori,
World Rankings 1500 meters
1975 5th Liquori
1971 1st Liquori
1970 7th Liquori
1969 1st Liquori
1978 AAU 5000 1st Liquori, 2nd Fredericks, 3rd Centrowitz
1978 AAU 10000 1st Virgin, 5th Liquori
1977 AAU 5000 1st Liquori, 2nd Fredericks

Massachusetts.
Alberto of course. I rate him higher than Bill Rodgers (it's close) as being more versatile.
Lived one town over, one year older than Salazar. Great fun to compete weekly in winter at the Wayland field house.
Tx
Michael Johnson.
I got the birth location info from the USATF site - that's not to say that it's correct. I did confirm what you stated, however.

Good one re: Coburn, but you can't discount Elva Dryer either. Both ahead of Fairchild.
Porter vs. Goucher? Again, I'm not a birther, so if an athlete spent a significant part of their childhood/development in a given state then that is their home, especially when they make that home for the main part of their career. Porter was Coloradoan, and with 2 Olympic teams and 9 USA XC championships plus several top 10s at Worlds he had a great long career.

Steve Taylor
I think Chris Fox has a bit of an edge on Taylor. Taylor's PBs: 4:00.6 mile, 13:38 5000, 27:59 10k, 2:13:56 marathon. Fox's PBs: 3:59.10 mile, 13:21 5000, 27:53 10000, 2:13.40 marathon.
We also can't forget to mention Carl Hatfield. Started running his senior year of high school, walked on to WVU's cross country team and became a 2 time All American, competed in 4 Olympic Trials, and led the West Virginia Track Club to the 1974 Boston Marathon team championship.
NO FLAMES PLEASE I admit Cali is not as good as The Kenya/EThiopia of Running: Oregon and Washington. Cali has:
Rafer Johhson
Deena Drossin
Ryan Hall
Shawn Crawford
Allyson Felix
Jason Richardson
Alic Schmidt
Shannon Rowbury
Felix Sanchez
Sara Bei
Jordan Hasay
AJ Acosta
David Klech
Ryan Wilson
Steve Scott
Mary Decker
Carmelita Jeter
Delilah Muhammad
Ato Boldon
Lauren Fleshman
Really? You're going to claim Ato Boldon for California but not Meb?
