Typical slowish championship race, jogging for two laps followed by a long accelertion to the finish. The only surprise was how many were in contention on the home straight. It looked almost like the end of a slow 800m.

Oh and the Al Sal sauce seems to be working for Centro. No 800 speed but he's able to medal at 1500?... Shades of Lagat/el G...
Ignorant post. Centro has great 800 speed. As did lagat and El G. Everyone who has followed EL G knows he could run a very competitive 800 and just choose not too. He what...closed in like 1:46ish one time? He's been reported to have run 1:42 in training. Lagat only ran like an 800 here and there for sharpening. Never at his peak. Centro took one crack and went 1:45.8 this year. You'd have to be an F'tard (which you are) to think he's not even more sharp now. Centro is probably low 1:44.
No way El G ever ran a 1:42 in training. Or closed in 1:46.

Hammond is horrible.
When What's Her Name got hurt and fell in the 200, he mentioned it ever so very casually. She's the biggest name in women's sprints and he can't show ANY emotion??
Terrible.

CENTRO SILVER
Nobody was gonna beat Kiprop and the slow race didn't help
Centro just kept himself in 2nd/3rd the whole race so when it came down to basically a 150m sprint he was in the 2nd best position. Great tactics by him, I highly doubt he was gonna get 1st today..
You're astute. He put himself in position behind the shoulder of the clear favorite, and if Kiprop underperformed, he was there.

You have to learn how to watch races- there were tactics and maneuvering- getting into position. Very exciting race.
I know, duh.

Correct and Centro rarely has run the 800.
What is with the fanboy haters here anyways?
You keep going to the symphony of track and field but
you expect rock and roll?
These tactical races can be watched countless times
to even begin to see how everything played out.
Now that the championships are done you can go watch some
time trial races with your eyes on the clock rather than having to use your brain and watch a race.
Someone will have to do the NCAA point tally to see how this championship compared overall to London.
watching kiprop down the homestretch was kind of like watching usain bolt in a 200. big longs strides easily pulling away from the field.
except for when he did it in the olympics you turd
The full race, but I don't hear sound:

Thanks for posting. After losing the feed I was hoping to see the finish. Kiprop was the class of the field. He would have won no matter what the pace. Another big race for Centro

Time the last 800..
Mine are approximate, but I have him at:
1:47.9 with 800 to go
2:42.6 with 400 to go (54.7)
3:34.19 at the finish (51.59)
54.7 + 51.59 = 1:46.29
Hell, NBC even got his 53.28 from 800-1200, if you doubt that he was constantly ramping up the speed over the entire final 800.
he didn't pull away in the last stretch, he just maintained.
i seriously don't get why so many people here are upset with the race. what did you honestly expect? who but kiprop could take it out fast and expect to still win? nobody. he's run 5 seconds faster than anyone else in the field this season. the only chance is to wait and hope he crumbles.
and somebody was complaining about nobody going for it, nobody had balls, etc. what about the kenyan in the third lap putting a second on the field, only to get caught at the bell? that's what happens.
good for centrowitz. silver was the best he could possibly do today, and he performed. maybe it's because he's got the #2 1500m runner farah to train with. i wonder how those sessions go
my feed also dropped at 3:07 but the main thing i'm taking away from this race is this site needs registration.
if we could just get rid of the 10 trolls and their multiple sock puppets this place might actually be bearable.
if you are going to troll be funny or original.
all this bs doped sh!t is played out bros. if you want to slam centro at least make something up, not talk about him not having any 800 speed since he has ran 1:45.
if you actually listened to his interviews centro came into worlds in what he said was his best fitness ever. this was possible because he did not taper or cutback at all during the season excluding the trials which i think he said as an extra or two of rest.
I will say once again the NCAA is stupid! WC and Olympics are two global championships. The only way more people will be attracted to the sport if there are winners on the world stage. To have a full season of local competition and still expect athletes to perform later in the year at global championships is down right stupid. NCAA championships should be abbreviated so that athletes can be fresher for world championships. Otherwise they will contine to underperform!
Centro is an absolute beast in championship styles races, and I can't believe we're 5 pages into this thread and he's getting very little praise. He executed his race plan to perfection. What a gamer.

Yes, really on the first part.
1:42 in training? Yeah, right.

There were five athletes within half a second of Centro: are they on "the sauce". And, if you have even a hint of interest in the facts, only one of those athletes has a faster PR at 800 than Centro, and that by .09. In fact, apart from Kiprop who is a league of his own, only two runners in the field have a faster PR at 800 (the second by .43). Ignorance is fine and human, but not when you use it to excoriate another.

Monty, I think we both know this is more immature carping from jealous children.
Anyone who doesn't think, no, doesn't KNOW that Centro Sr. would absolutely beat Salazar to the ground for allowing Centro to be anything but clean, knows nothing about the sport or Centro Sr.

oh shut up. everyone hates your type. The race sucked.
BW, you are indeed an idiot. 95% of what you post here is hateful and mean.
People could be talking the color blue and you find some way to post some negative shit about it, rather than admit you own one blue possession.
That is how insane you are, and far more people hate your type than the op.
When you look in the mirror, you see hate.
another crappy Silver. Russia beats us in Gold Medal count with only 65% of the athletes we had. USA fails hard at this WCs.
