Most clubs don't institute policies without a vote of the membership. If that didn't happen members have a legitimate grievance. And if that's the case, I wonder why someone at a club meeting doesn't move to retract the policy.

Okay, how about if you're a current member and don't like the new terms, find a new club? What's so hard about that?
Heck, you and your buddies can even form your own club. Call it "BAA Sucks" or something.

Why don't you old idiots in the BAA grasp the concept that no one cares about how long you've been in the BAA, about your memories with the club or about your friendships. Going forward, there is absolutely zero loss to you, if you leave the club. Why can't you grasp that? You have literally nothing to lose. No one is going to take away your memories. But yah it will be quite embarrassing for you to leave the smugness of the BAA behind because they wouldn't pay for your shoes.
Go start a new club called the OGBAA or something. Hold parties where you can watch slideshows and hold each other, remembering those magnificent 20 years in the BAA.
You're so upset with the BAA, feel the need to vent on letsrun, but don't have the courage to leave the club after being severely slighted.
You people are ignorant cocks. I've never been a member of the BAA. I'm just able to appreciate what it would be like to have this shit shoved in my face on a sudden after being in the club for a long time. So rather than make assumptions about what must be fueling my arguments here, look at them simply for what they are. Cocks.
The new BAA agreement means those sponsored by Powerbar can't wear the logo in competition/media, which actually pays (unlike the BAA "deal").
Elite/sub-elites need to realize that the whole "exclusivity" of committing to a major shoe company is not a great "deal". They could do better by seeking out smaller sponsorships like Meb, triathletes, other sports. Wear what works for you and the best of everything.
Don't forget they hired Terrence Mahon over the summer. Maybe, they're trying compete with Nile OTC's of the world.

Is Terrence running the weekly track and long run workouts? If so, that seems like a pretty good deal for $75 and the cost of some gears. Especially considering the marathon and other race-related benefits. I e-mailed the contact on the BAA website twice this sumer to inquire about joining the team and never heard anything. They obviously aren't tripping over themselves to add/retain "club" level runners.

you should try on the adizero ambition. based on the two models you refrenced, the ambition could work for you. they should be in stores in december. let me know your thoughts.

any Central Park Track Club members starting to sweat a little?
That would never fly in the city. BAA better gets a ton from Adidas. It's a lot to ask from general members to race in a certain brand of shoes (apparel is much easier). But maybe BAA doesn't care to lose a few people.
20% off is a joke. Wholesale is less than 50%.
If I were a member of the BAA, I'd show up to every race wearing generic wal-mart brand shorts and shirts, and laugh at them if they said anything to me.
If I weren't a member of teh BAA, there's no way i'd join as long as this policy were in place.
Any update on this from current members?
What's the club going to do if everyone just shows up at practice wearing their non conforming gear.
I can see the club making you wear adidas when you race, but when you practice? If that's the case, they should give you the stuff at 50% off.
They will kick out those members and keep their multi-million dollar sponsorship with Adidas
