Prefontaine! Don't laugh.....he has the same odds as Webb.

I though Withrow had huge potential

Nicest dude ever, and a monster in the 400.
He's now head coach at Bethel University in St Paul, MN and last ran an indoor 400 in 48.2 a year ago.

Once the fall of 2005 came, Withrow was eager to chip in. But then came the groin injury, which was never officially given a more specific medical description.
"It was pretty hard to nail it down," said Withrow. "There were so many things it could have been, they never actually put a specific label on it."
One thing that was for certain is that the injury made his athletic life miserable. Running had been a pleasurable activity since Withrow began competing in the sport in eighth grade, but those positive vibes all but disappeared.
"Running definitely wasn't what it used to be," he said. "My leg hurt every day. After a while it starts getting to you."

Ya Mekonnen and Kaki definitely. Kak I thought might have near Rudisha like ability in his prime. And Mekonnen was so quick especially indoor at the 1500
Jesus - I have a few questions that I'd like to ask.
And El G.
Steve Jones.
Bobby Curtis, get the hell out of Detroit, the great running graveyard.
What's the story with Saif Shaheen?? Is he retired or what?
Weird Al Yankovic
Where in the hell is German? Is he still with the Jerry's training group? Why no information on what the problem is? Injury, mental, physical - what the hell? Why on earth does this have to be some kind of big secret? I don't need to know what time he goes to the can, who he's dating, or what he eats to be respectfully interested in his running career! Why is he not racing? What Gives!
Lazarus? He already had ONE great comeback.

The age of this board is revealed when you read a thread like this one. Nearly all of the responses are by guys in the last 10 years.
Not much knowledge of the history of the sport. This board thinks guys like Bob Kennedy and Todd Williams are old timers. Not much knowledge of the 50's or 60's or anything prior to Prefontaine.
Really?! There's a thread about which runners should make comebacks, and you're wondering why people aren't mentioning greats from the 50s or 60s? Think about this for a few minutes, and you might be able to figure out why no one expects Zatopek (or Bob Kennedy, for that matter) to show up on the circuit this summer and start tearing it up...

Without reading all the responses, I'm not sure how many other people gave this answer, but my immediate response was: Me!
