Robby - Shocked by the thoughts of moving up; hopefully it is just a momentary thought out of frustration. Hopefully, one good 800/1500 race will change all of that. I have not seen anything to suggest you should do that and a bump in the road is just a bump in the road. Baring an injury or illness, there is almost nothing that can't be fixed that would cause a 22 year old to not be able to run the times he did a year ago. Sometimes the changes to get you to the next level will set you back before they move you forward and if you want to get better. You have to accept that and be patient; Aries Merritt is a perfect example of this. I can't think of a single middle distance runner who didn't have string a bad races at some point in their career and most guys had a couple of bad patches. It's just a matter of figuring things out, while keeping your head in the game.
At the very least, you can go back to what got you to 1:44/3:34, but if you want to separate yourself from the crowd, forget about the calendar, what's coming up next and focus on the big picture. Btw, I have met you and your coach and I'm sure you are getting something better than my amateur advice...but this is my take. (Good Luck!)
