good call
change the dates and we will have an accurate statement.

Well, no one has ever beaten him in a 10,000 yet. That's both a legend AND a fact.
10k
1 Farah
2 Rupp
3 Kenyan
You heard it here first. KB will DNF once he realizes he is beaten, around 9700m. This is KB's only shot:
Nurmi won the 10k in 1920 and 1928. Finnish team officials refused to let him compete in the event in 1924 due to health concerns related to the extreme heat.
He almost certainly would have won.
i like the poster saying how he didn't like bekele based on his weasely appearance. i never liked the look of el guerrouj personally, and i also thought ramzi looked like an a-hole.
keep in mind i probably do too, i just happen not to be competing for world medals and records.
i also haven't seen anything from any of them that i would characterize as charisma.
but bekele, when i watch him run, my god it is the most beautiful thing. if he doesn't have my favorite form of all time it is awfully close. i can watch the beauty of his motion for a long long time.
i don't care how this race shakes out so long as everyone lays it on the line and there are at least two guys going for it with a lap to go.
The way I see it playing out is that his talent and training will get him in the lead pack at the bell, but he will get out kicked due to rust.

I agree with this poster. Mo Farah has had a stellar season and should be considered the favorite going into Daegu. Yes, Keninisa is awesome at track 10K and has never lost one.... but he is also human and getting older by distance running standards.
I see him and Mo Farah 1-2 in the last 200m with Farah pulling away for the win in a fast time......around 27 flat.

ummm......WC 09??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjsDtNf5SPQRight--and thanks, Mr. Obvious. Ashford won golds in the 4x1 in 1976, 1984, and 1988--which I think is even better than three in a row (especially for a sprinter), because she was prevented from repeating by the boycott and then won two more in a row anyway.
But still, no individual running-event triple-golds yet. And yes, Campbell-Brown has the same chance that Bekele does.
Two doublers who skipped an Olympics: Moses ('76-'84) and Taylor ('00-'08), both 400mIH.
KB is only 29! That's still pretty young.

yeah for real
how is is farah anyway?
Birthdates according to both the IAAF and Wikipedia:
Bekele - June 13, 1982
Farah - March 23, 1983
So Bekele is all of 283 days (9 months and 10 days) older than Farah.
Not a factor.

This is wrong. Evelyn Ashford has won 3 golds in a row in the 4x1: in 1984, 1988 and 1992. In 1976 the GDR has won the event (Ashford has competed in the final).
And Moses would have won almost certainly in 1980 in Moskva.
Lewis came down with a virus during the '92 olympic trials and performed sub-par as a result. He was so good at the long jump that even being sick he could make the team. By the time of the olypics he was recovered and fit, possibly close to his Tokyo '91 form when he ran 9.86. He split 8.8 on the 4x100 anchor in Barcelona.

Lewis should have done it in '84, '88, and '92.
He won in '84 and '88, won the WC's and set a WR in '91, finished 4th in the '93 WC's (beaten by only dopers Christie and Mitchell, and by Andre Cason).
In '92, dopers Christie and Mitchell got gold and bronze respectively, while Cason did not figure in the medals. Fredericks got silver in a time of 10.02, the same time that Lewis ran a year later in Stuttgart.
I don't know why Lewis flamed out in the 100m in 1992, but if the dopers Christie and Mitchell hadn't been around, I believe Lewis would have made the team (taken a spot left vacant by Mitchell's exclusion), and could have competed with Fredericks for gold. Lewis seemed to be a good big-meet performer.
I think we went through this on another thread...
anyway, but for the dopers, I think he had a shot.

Yeah, Farrah joined the Oregon group. He's not dumb.
mo farah was given drugs by alberto salazar. if you want to know how i know this then just ask anyone that is on the oregon team...
one runner who was in the group confirmed for me that he was aware of doping on that team.
I cannot put his name out there but he is a 2nd tier runner .. never made a WC team. He is a reputable guy.
I am not only relying on this guy.. i also look at dudes that are PRing later in the career.
All points to al sal as the doper. perhaps alan webb got out of there because of this.
It should be his prime as a matter of fact. At least in the 10,000. But then maybe he is paying a price for over training at a younger age.

You do know Carl Lewis also failed dope tests?!

Please be advised that beginning your posts with the words, "You do know" is infantile and asinine.
This has been a public service announcement.
It's clear that not many posting on this site are in Addis or have seen KB in person (let alone train) within the past two weeks...this is such fun!
