Even worse for them, this whole birther thing is only marginally more dumb than the supposed legitimate criticisms they have of Obama: that his health care plan is a "gov't take over of health care", that he has already greatly raised taxes on americans, that he plans on greatly raising taxes on small businesses, that he has gone on a spending spree of choice (not forced by a near depression, and which were often measures Bush started), that he wants to destroy america, that he always apologizes for america, that his father's worldview has shaped his, etc, etc, etc. Those are all supposed to be serious charges, but are in reality virtually equal on the nonsense scale as the birther issue. And even though there are reams of evidence to refute each and every one of those charges, the birthers, right wingers, and tea-parties will continue their embarrassing display of lies and ignorance by believing them all. Sad, very, very sad. Trump trolled you all.
Exactly, and none of it is surprising since the right wing has gone from being a political party to being a church. Completely disconnected from reality and not beholden to evidence in any way. They make outrageous, nonsensical claims and then somehow they switch the burden of proof onto those who call bullsh\it. And when presented with said proof they continue to deny it until finally disowning their original claim with Jon Kyl-ish cop-outs like "not intended to be a factual statement". Yep, just like The Bible isn't intended to be factually correct but it's still sacred and those who question it are communists.
And Sagarin belongs to said right-wing church whether he wants to admit it or not. There's a whole archive of letsrun threads to prove that (oops, there's that "proof" thing again - what was I thinking?)
