Overall - Male - Finish
1 D. Merga (ETH) 59:24
2 B. Kipyego (KEN) +0:20
3 L. Langat (KEN) +0:28
59:25 for Merga, second place only 20 seconds back at the end so they really closed the gap a lot
great race for Merga nonetheless. He is super fit.
62:40 at 20k would be wr pace
yeah, they must've been closing fast on Merga.
Keitani just got the 12k best 61:28 did he say?

Overall - Female - 20km

Keitany has had that male pacer with the blue singlet with her the whole way.
must've heard him wrong
1:05:50 WR
65:50 world record 35 seconds off the old world record!
Wow, congratulations to Keitany. A 2:17-2:18 marathon can't be far away.
great race by Keitani,
along with surprisingly fulfilling coverage for watching a video of a big screen tv off in the distance.
at least it didn't cut off...
Big gap for the other women - 1:08+
1 M. Keitani (KEN) 1:05:50
2 D. Tune (ETH) +3:03
3 M. Dibaba (ETH) +3:07
4 R. Kosgei (KEN) +3:14
5 A. Kiprop (KEN) +3:21
What a nice way to introduce herself to the London Marathon 2011 lineup!!! I am very proud of Mary Keitany. She has accomplished what was left in the half marathon before she shifts her focus completely to the full marathon. Now we can talk of her chasing Paula's world record, which I think is quite a challenge.
ok, shalane, kara and lisa
patrick makau 63:51
mary keitany 65:50 WR
so with the letsrun theory of a poor half marathon = a good marathon, and a great half marathon means a poor marathon so.
we can expect makau should run great in the london marathon.
and we should expect keitany to run poorly in the london marathon????
i dont believe in this theory, but it has been mentioned many times on letsrun threads.
The good thing with a theory, is that it is only a theory Douglas, lets see in London!

RAK half marathon gives a reasonable time to recover.
Previously people have applied this theory to fast times at Lisbon half marathon, which is 20/03/2011 this year, so quite close to London and Berlin.
