If the scientifically gathered information in peer reviewed papers is not enough to satisfy your skepticism, you are free to offer your own verifiable, non-anecdotal evidence against. If you do not accept the evidence to date, because you think it is biased or you just don't like it, and still want to be taken seriously by anyone, you must tell the rest of us what proof you *would* accept. Jeremy Johnson just placed 16th barefoot at US XC Nationals. However, he was not able to capitalize on his fitness due to not wearing spikes and actually picked up an injury running barefoot leading into the race.

I have. It's a study that anyone who really understands how to match a runner with the correct shoe would laugh at (as I did). Picking a running shoe based on the one criteria of arch shape makes only the tinyest bit more sense than picking by something like weight or age. There are sooooo many more dimensions to what constitutes any runners gait and the proper shoe choice than the one they focused on in that study.

The Army study does nothing to illustrate that "Running shoes are bad". What it does show (pretty conclusively by the way) is that arch shape alone is not a good gauge for choosing running shoes.

I think that tape may be holding his racing chip. There appears to be something beneath both strips.
