So back to the original title of COACHING OPENINGS? What do people think will happen at Illinois. People should realize how good of a position this is. Great history, in the sprint-weak Big 10, and a super State that has been ignored for almost 20 years!
Turk and Wendell are fine for the assistants, but we need a high-profile sprints head. Don't want to see combined program because the men's program almost always pays the price of having less scholarship (12 against 18).
Why get a sprint head coach? Any college with a clue would get a distance coach as the head coach of the track program - that way you could have 3 great programs instead of just indoors/outdoors.
In all seriousness, what has the distance program at illinois done that would show the coach shouldn't be canned. He is a nice guy but from the limited things I have seen with his program, it has vastly underperformed.
