These types of questions frustrate me because we go round and round in a circle...Could Bolt run a WR 400M? Could Wariner be a good 800m runner? Etc.

I'm curious about your thoughts on Bolt. Starts out as a 200/400 guy and runs brilliant time at a young age. Then one year switches to the 100 and dominates the worlds best and the world record. Did he have that 100m ability all along and was running the wrong event? Or does he just have tremendously untapped potential at 400m, and is just as good as that as the 100? 45.3 as a 16 year old shows that there is something there for him at 400m if he is willing to work for it.
I think, as I said before, it all goes back to body type. 2 guys might run the same times (say 24/52) but have different body types. One is big and bulky and muscles their way around the track while one is light and glides. The former is simply a mediocre sprinter while the latter could be a good distance runner. There are also variables you can't see-what if one sprinter has a massive heart+lung system and one has an average one?...the difference wouldn't show up in the sprints but one has more potential at the longer distances. Overall though, it is easier to gain endurance then speed for most people.
