Elite men's & elite women's reported results are wrong!!!!
HALF MARATHON:
The official race commentary for the Aramco Houston Half Marathon at
http://commentary.houstonmarathon.com/half.html
states:
08:27 am - For the women: Magdalena Boulet finished with a time of 1:11:47, second place was Kelly Jaske 1:12:06, and in third was Colleen De Reuck at 1:12:14
But the results at
http://events.bazumedia.com/event/HOUST2009#
show completely different results: Jaske 1st (1:11:59), Davila 2nd (1:12:17), and Rudolph 3rd (1:12:29)
On the men’s side the official commentary states:
8:21 am - Meb Keflezighi finished with a time of 1:01:25
8:22 am - Dathan Ritzenhein came in second at 1:01:35 and in third was Brett Gotcher with a time of 1:02:09
But the above results webpage shows Ritzenheim was first with a 1:01:34, then Keflezighi second with a 1:01:40, and Gotcher third with a 1:02:11.
So who really won the men’s and women’s USATF Half Marathon Championship???? Should we believe the official race commentary or the listed results? We will likely need to wait some time until corrections are made and the correct results posted on the USATF website.
MARATHON: (mistakes continue)
The official commentary at
http://commentary.houstonmarathon.com/index.html
reports:
9:56 am - Women's winners include: 1st-Teyba Erkesso (2:24:18); 2nd-Nuta Olaru (2:27:25); 3rd-Lioudmila Kortchaguina (2:30:42); 4th-Yulia Gromova (2:31:28); 5th-Amane Gobena (2:32:06)
But the results listed at
http://events.bazumedia.com/event/HOUST2009
report a different top-5: Erkesso (2:24:20), Olaru (2:27:26), Korchaguina (2:30:40), Gromoua (2:31:27), Akor (2:37:53), Gobena (2:38:01).
While the commentary and listed results of the top 4 women’s finishers agree (within a few seconds), who finished fifth in this race? The commentary says Gobena finished 5th with a 2:32 but the official results indicate Govena finished in 6th with a 2:38. That’s a large 6 minute difference. So was Mary Akor on the top-5 or not?
On the men’s side, there were no significant differences between the commentary and listed results for the top-5, but given all the other errors I wouldn’t trust any results beyond the top-5.
This should be a huge embarrassment for the race organizers. They can’t even get the top elite finishers right 3+ hours after these races have ended. I’ve sent them emails on these errors a few hours ago. I suspect they will make corrections within the next 24 hours or so. But will they acknowledge on their website that the commentary and today’s posted results were wrong?.
