No lie, my college team was very good in the sprints. Years ago we placed in the 4 X 100 at Colonial Relays with Walter Whack, Hartwell Speed, Mark Quick and Ron Jett.

Which college was that? Whack was a former star in my league in the '80's in high school, and i'm wondering where he ended up going to school.
Joe, as far as I know he's not my brother, but you can never be too sure about that in Tennessee. Reminds me of that old bluegrass song by Jim & Jesse entitled "I'm My Own Grandpa"...

Speaking of names from the South, my uncle in Kentucky has two neighbors (well, one of them died, but I don't know which one) named:
Doobie Odell AND Oval Probis
One of the two fellows above had 10 kids, and the last two are named Niner and Tener. I've never met those two men, but my uncle and aunt and my cousins all tell that story, and I've not known them to be liars.

Years ago I heard a page at a cross country race for a "Bruno Jerko". It was a high-school meet and it wasn't till I got home that I realised that it was likely a joke. Never have forgotten that name.
Her's another great one to hear an announcer call out: "Bob Loblaw".
Mike Rotch.

There was a real runner named Chris Farley that got attention whenever his name was called for a result or listed in the paper.

I've signed up as Bruce Wayne a few times, and always ran terribly when I did.
I once signed up as Kylo Ren and when they announced my name at the awards ceremony everyone burst out laughing.
I signed up as Donald Trump once in 2016 before the election. Everyone got a kick out of it.
