Whew. I was getting worried if we might ever know whether it was 6:36 and 16 seconds or 17 seconds.

Rest easy. The danger has passed.
In order to help people find this thread in the future I am adding a post with the words people would likely use to search for it:
"celebrity marathoners, marathon times, famous people have run, Oprah, puff daddy, diddy, Sean combs, list"
Steve Redgrave, 5 times olympic gold medalist at rowing, one of Britain's greatest ever endurance athletes:

I think that is interesting that an endurance athlete, still only does a 4:21. I understand it's rowing, but the cardio stuff must be there, I would have thought he would be faster.

Thats like asking Tergat with his puny arms to row fast
Didn't Gov. Elliot spitzer of New York run a marathon?
VICI from the TV show Small Wonder completed the 1997 LA Marathon in 4:33:06.
Alan Page's marathon was superb; he was very serious about distance running and still (I believe) runs 6 miles in the early morning. Only negative about Alan's marathon is that he lost so much weight that Bud Grant dumped him off to the Bears. He was incredibly fast and was still a very effective defensive player.....ask the Vikings who had to play against him after he went to the Bears!!
and a few more... wrote:
Alan Page, Grandma's Marathon 1979, (3:22; while an active NFL lineman, and a great one at that)
Sen. John Edwards, Marine Corps Marathon 1983 (3:30)
Gov. Michael Dukakis, Boston Marathon 1951 (3:31)
Golfer Justin Leonard, White Rock Marathon 2002 (3:54)
NFL Coach Jeff Fisher, Country Music Marathon 2002 (4:09)
Gymnist Kerri Strug, Houston Marathon 1998 (4:12)
Sen. Bill Frist, Marine Corps Marathon 1997 (4:54)
BTW, does anyone know what kind of time Wilt Chamberlain ran at the Honolulu Marathon years ago?

I thought I saw something in RW about him running it. I do not recall the time though. I assume it was the NY Marathon.
His name does not show up in the results from marathonguide.com
he mentioned in the RW interview that he ran it while he was still in Harvard Law School(before he was NY Attorney General/Governor). He ran 3:58 in the 1983 running.
i updated the list with a few more times, more historical boston qualifying times, more famous people, more celebrity marathoners and some historical median times for the marathon.
i tried to keep the list of people to famous/celebrity people instead of athletes that fewer people would know about.
i also added links to cites to where these times can be found.
jurek's time is probably not his best, but it is the only one i could find proof of. i left alan paige off the list simply because i could not find another website with his time on it.

Does anyone have a link to a site with Spitzer's time?
So you say you beat Oprah?
Now you can get a tshirt that proudly tells the world you kicked oprah's ass in the marathon.
http://www.timestobeat.com/catalog/times.htm
Maybe you beat some other famous marathon runner, maybe you beat some celebrity runner or some celebrity marathoner.
Maybe you beat Puff Daddy or P. Diddy or even Sean Combs.
Proudly tell the world you beat that celebrity runner.
http://www.timestobeat.com/catalog/beatpdiddy.htm
Perhaps you beat President Bush or even Will Ferrel, you can get a tshirt to tell the world you beat those famous marathoners as well!
What if you cannot decide which famous celebrity runner you want to tell the world you beat?
http://www.timestobeat.com/catalog/times.htm
This shirt lists many famous celebrity marathoners and gives you the times they ran so you have the times to beat when you run your marathon.
Those from the Philly area will probably only know this name, Cecily Tynan, local weather lady for NBC.
Dropped a 2:54:40 at the Disney Marathon
Pam Reed's race at St Geaorge is worth about a 3:15 at NY
Should Weldon Johnson's 2:18 from 2002 in Chicago be listed? Is he a famous celebrity marathoner?
Here's one you will not beat.
Robert Horman :4:34:55 aged 86.
This will be difficult too.
Robert Horman:3:41 at 80.
