The Front Runner by Patricia Nell Warren.
Gerry Lindgren's Book On Running (www.gerrylindgren.com)
Gerry/Jogger, I have the book, Gerry Lindgren's Book On Running, autographed by Gerry.
Do you know where I can get a copy of:
The Gerry Lindgren Story, World Publications, booklet of the Month, from the mid 1970's.
Thanks.....
I just read "the greatest", about haile gebrsellassie yesterday (long flight, i read another book and watched 3 movies), it was pretty good. I didn't really like the writing in the beginning, I felt like the author was trying too hard to be descriptive, but it got better the more I read. Haile really seems like an awesome guy, everything I've read and seen about him gives me the highest regard for him. What an amazing person.
The movie, Endurance on Haile, is very good also. It is not all about running, it shows life as a farmer in his village as he was growing up.
He is truly the greatest distance runner ever.
I too started to read 'The Greatest' but had to put it down. Was not enjoying it as much as I should have.Happen to see Suzy Hamilton's 'Fast Tracks' and Paul Tergat's book in the bookstore today. I was disappointed to see the former being only a training guide, and while Tergat's book had nice color pics, it did not seem to be a jam packed bio.I have yet to purchase Lindgren's book.Next up is a list of distance greats that need books written about them.

..suprisingly not mentioned (i think) 'Running My way' by Harry Wilson
haven't checked if it's listed or not, but if not, should be and that is Heroes and Sparrows by Roger Robinson

To start the list, I would like to see a biography on NZ great, Rod Dixon.
Another book, not listed is:Uncommon Heart, biography of Anne Audain , by John L Parker
Two American Runners I would like to see biographies on are:
Benji Durden
Alberto Salazar
I second the Al Salazar bio. There is some in 'Dual in the Sun', but not enough. Benji Durden is a good one too.Would like to see one on Khalid K., and Bob Hodge (perhaps a nice history of the whole Boston scence during the mid-70s to '80s w/ Malmo as a contributor.)Mary Decker-SlaneyDeena Drossin-Kastor -- when she retiresMeb K.Tegla Lourope (sp)Looking forward to Tom Fleming's. How did you find out about these soon to be published books?

That should be 'DUEL in the Sun'
I knew about the Lorraine Moller book, as I read about it in an interview with her, I think it was on Fast Women.com. I learned about the Henry Rono book in some emails that I exchanged with Henry earlier this year. I knew about the Tom Fleming book, as I have known Tom for over 30 years. He first told me about it last year, and then confirmed it as I spent some time talking to him a couple of weeks ago at the US Team National XC Champs in GGP in San Francisco.
I too am looking forward to Tom's book, it should be great.
Nice network of friends you have there. I have tagged them all on my Amazon wish list. Hopefully, they will all show up there. In any case, be sure they are publicized their release on Letsrun.I don't think these have been mentioned:The Looniness of the Long Distance Runner by Russell Taylor (very funny book about someone training for his first NYC marathon)The Joy of Jogging by Curits MitchellBack Track by Maxwell StilesOf People and Things by Bert Nelson1975 Marathon Handbook, Runner's World Booklet #44

F*** Daniels.
LI Runner, I will let you know when these books are available. How can I contact you directly?
Thanks for your participation in this thread, there has been a lot of good information presented here for whoever is interested in running history, training techniques, novels, biographies, etc....it is all here.
BA,I have enjoyed this thread too. I've attached an email to my name. Thanks for sharing info.Another book I have is Steve Cram put out by Vigin Profile in the UK. (There is one on Daley Thompson also.)I would like to read an in-depth bio on Grete Waitz. I know she co-authored a bunch of books, but none are really (auto)biographies. Grete, like no other woman, really changed the paradigm of women's marathoning.

LI Runner, the only book that is even close regarding an in depth look into Grete Waitz career is:
World Class, A Champion Runner reveals what makes Her Run by Grete Waitz & Gloria Averbuch
As for Steve Cram, I have the following title:
Steve Cram, the making of an athlete, by Roger Tames (1984)
I will email you, and we can discuss some of these books offline.
Thanks again.
finished them.

wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?
