Gotta think Hoppel may get upgraded. The 800m has been basically unchanged unlike all other events from a time perspective since the super shoes dropped.
Now we have guys dropping 1:41 low after rounds. Hoppel at least doesn’t have that otherworldly change of pace we see from others and a plausible reasoning for his improvement (altitude, mileage, training partners) after training solo and by his dad previously.
This is a cope. He is no more likely to be doping than Wanyoni, Arop, or Sedjati. Stop please.
Snowflake is an apt name for you.
Algerias own Olympic committee president is on the record saying doping is a huge issue in his country.
Algerian Olympic Committee (COA) President Mustapha Berraf has claimed widespread doping in the country has enabled athletes to compete at and qualify...
AROP WITH A HUGE PB, SEDJATI GETS 3RD HOPPEL GOES HOME DEVASTATED
You are hands down one of the biggest idiots on this board. Hoppel just set a new American record and ran a great race. If anyone should be devastated, I'd say it would be your parents for raising such a tool.
You guys are crying about Hoppel being robbed meanwhile USADA just got exposed, and he ran basically the same time as Sedjati, and his PB was 1:43 before this season and he doesn't have any outdoor medals meanwhile Sedjati at least got a medal in Eugene (Bryce's home turf) in 2022.
You are overhyping the USADA thing, that story about letting a few dopers compete in a sincere attempt to catch others is very far from the widespread institutional corruption or state-sponsored doping programs that we've seen in other countries.
Man I remember when Noberto Tellez ran 1.42.8 in Atlanta and didn't medal - to not medal in 1.41.6 is just absurd. But great run and well deserved NR.
Sedjati - I guess there is some karmic justice in the world. Far too much confidence in that final 80m especially when there are guys at the front, on the rail just as desperate and basically just as fit.
Honestly, this was a better race than London. A front-run WR will always be legendary but as an actual race that wasn't as good. We had 5 guys coming into the home straight at breakneck speed that depending on who faltered, could have won that. The numbers speak for themselves not just in terms of the winning times but also the place times (far superior to London places 2-7).
Hoppel ran an incredible race, but there is no doubt he is going home devastated. It's not a slur. It's objective truth. The guy said anything but a gold would be a disappointment. will be interested to see the race analysis of how many meters he ran versus what the other guys did.

?? He said anything other than gold would be a disappointment. Are you his mom or something? I know a certain other runner who finished out of the podium and many here said he got humbled and should switch events, atleast be consistent.
This may be a dumb take, but if doping is really that prevalent and only a small % seem to get caught (if doping is that prevalent), it seems like the most fair approach would be to just allow it. At least then everyone has a fair chance. Watching this all unfold thinking that there are basically 2 different classes of competitors kind of puts a damper on seeing an awesome performance unfold. Maybe why Kenneth Rooks was so exciting. Being Mormon means he most certainly is not doping. It just seems like nearly every awesome result now has that conversation attached to it. Kind of a bummer.

I'll I say is that I'm really gutted for Arop.
2012 was legendary and until today was the best 800 race ever. Today’s 6th place finisher would have earned the bronze. 4th place Hoppel would have been 2nd behind Rudisha. Just a crazy race all around.
So 1:41,50 is doped and 1:41,67 is clean? You guys are gullible idiots!
Bryce hoppel didn't come out of nowhere
I think Sedjati is a doper and way more likely to be doped than Hoppel, but in fairness Sedjati won the silver at the 2022 Worlds and had a faster PB than Hoppel prior to this season. Sedjati has improved his PB by 1.60 this year, Hoppel has improved his by 1.56.
The race exposed Sedjati's limitations. He has one tactic and Wanyonyi and Arop combined to outsmart him. Lingering at the back is fine until there's people willing to put 30 metres in you. There's a hard lesson there for him. By contrast, I think Hoppel ran a tactically perfect race. If Sedjati had just sat on Hoppel, he'd have the gold medal right now
