That makeup of his is strange. Is he keepin’ it on the downlow with some fellow sprinters?
I hope so. That would be delightfully scandalous!

His so-called “antics” before the race were similar to what Muhammad Ali used to do before a fight. The purpose is two-fold: (1) Psyche yourself up; and (2) Psyche out your opponents. By jumping around and dancing before the race, and getting a huge crowd reaction, Lyles was able to create the perception that all 77,000 people in that stadium wanted him (and only him) to win. Not only did this give him a psychological boost, but it also probably demoralized his opponents (if only a little). And, that’s all it takes to win in a race where first and second are separated by a mere 0.004 second.
I kind of think that's what he's trying to do, but he doesn't really worry about demoralizing his opponents. He only has to distract them. Zarnel Hughes said it sometimes worked on him. I don't think it really has a huge effect on most of his competitors, although some might find it annoying.
Gotta say I vomited a bit in my mouth when Lyles won. Turned the TV off immediately.

That says more about you than him. He is the first American champion in 20 years.
He isn’t my favorite either, but you can’t take anything away from 979.
Once you understand him and what makes him tick, he’s more likeable than it may seem to some people. He’s just awkward. Probably both ADHD and on the edge of the autism spectrum. I have an autistic family member and while our case is more severe, I see some commonality.
