The issue was the pace wasn't gast enough to get the kick out of Lobalu. His best chance to medal is to nap a guy or 2 in the last 100m that went for the win like 2022 Worlds. And he needs a couple guys to run poorly
Shouldn't have let the pace dawdle over the last three laps.
Yeah Lobalu is not impossible to beat. He either generally goes hard from a way out or gets stuck a little far back and has to rally. Today, Fisher ran a conservative race but to beat Lobalu he had to take advantage of the positioning a bit more with an earlier move. That being said, not a bad performance at all.
Looks to be a solid meet distance wise with a full mens mile and flat 3k (with Grant Fisher) and a women's 800 with Keely Hodgkinson. There is lots of great sprints action as well with Noah Lyles and Letsile Tobogo squaring off in a 100 to close the meet.
Talk all about it below. When it's over, we'll break it down for you live at 11 am ET:
Surely this is the year. I think Moraa will be running 1:55-flat, but Keelys fitness is next-level. Georgia Bell casual near-4s PB. Everyone get on the bike I guess.
Nice test for Fisher. Have to beat the likes of Lobalu to win a medal.
If he doens't win this, he's got no chance, right?
His chances in the 5k have been very slim all year, but a 7:27.9 3k closing in 55 is definitely an A-ok tune-up for the 10k in 13 days. Lobalu is legit.
