Here’s an interesting comparison- Hocker’s last 800m was 1:49.45 and Cento’s last 800 when he won gold in 2016 was 1:49.8 (or thereabouts. Couldn’t find official splits for Rio but an LRC poster did the math back in 2016). There’s a million factors that are different between the two performances, but both men won with quite impressive last 800’s
Regardless of the final time, sub-1:50 to finish a 1500 is amazing to see
you know what's f#cked up is that the world record 3:26.00 averages under 55.0 per lap. i think 55.0 per lap gets you 3:26.25. el G is the only guy ever to *average* 149 800 pace for an entire 1500. goat

Didn't El G close the 2004 Olympics in 1:46? Probably the all time most impressive 1500m race.

Maybe second on the 'impressive' list is Abdi Bile's 1987 World Championships victory. He closed in 1:46.

Stack two of those 800m on top of each other + some, and you got an 3:39.x mile. That is 4 seconds faster than J.Ingebrigtsens best mile. In other words, Jakob did a 1:51 800 from the startline then another one after that. His 1500m pr is 1:50 800m pace, throughout the race.
Hope he gets to that shape at the olympics, in that case I think the last 800 have to go a lot faster than 1:49.45.

55 x 3 = 165 secs plus 55 x 3/4 = 41.25 = 206.25 secs, or 3:26.25.
WR 3:26.00
Yep sub 55 second 400m laps.
By the way, not sub 55 440 yd laps (some of us old guys ran 440 yd laps in our prime)
There is no such 'peaking' as Cole Hocker demonstrated. That's not peaking, it's doping and very crystal clear to the one who sees, touches, and thinks no evil-----in short the morally pure in heart and soul like me!!!!!! If it isn't crystal clear to you, it's because of SIN in you DUH!!!!!!!
Don't come attacking me unless you never had sexual intercourse with a woman/man in your life, never took alcohol and beer, never smoke a cigarette and never took a single pharmaceutical or recreational drug. That's me!!!!! Which of you on LRC can match my thought process this way???? Be honest....
Actually comical to suggest that at age 23, you’re too old to improve anymore and that you must be doping. The only runners who peak at 21 or younger are the ones who can’t stay healthy or just stop taking training seriously.
You are putting way too much weight on a single race. Ever heard of a bad day? Or the fact that Prefontaine was the debut race outdoor for Hocker? You also didn't consider that Nuguse LEAD the race at OT. This costs him what, 2 seconds of effort compared to drafting? In a rabbited race it is quite possible and even likely that Nuguse wins by 1.5 seconds. He actually closed the gap slightly down the home stretch in the final. Yet somehow God told you Hocker is on the juice to run a PB of 0.11 seconds? God has led you astray.

You are aware that 800m is not half a mile, right?

yeah he did what jakob just did at euros (take it from two laps out and run each 100 slightly faster than the previous one) but even faster. they went out pretty slow in the first half; i think it was 54-55 penultimate lap and 51-52 last lap. GOAT sh!t

If you re-read the post you might be able to see that, good luck!

There are 10^100 atoms in the universe, are you asking me to blame 10^100 atoms or find a cause in these much number of atoms for Nuguse's loss and Hocker's win?????
If you want me to put weight on everything then in order to do that truly properly I will need to take all 10^100 atoms in the universe from the furthest reaches of the heavens to affect the Olympic trials 1500m race result because that will be the right thing to do right???
Pls really use some brains. I'm an RF King for goodness sake, of course I know best due to my RF Physics and Engineering background which atom or 'atom' (read FACTOR!!!) is critical for the Olympic trials 1500m race result, I know best how to do the best reasoning and persuasion on this planet, doesn't matter if I'm doing reasoning and persuasion about distance sport, parenting, marketing, skydiving, The Gospel of Jesus Christ, morality, ethics whatever..........
I take care of everything by my ingenuity, moral discipline, worship and honor of God, protection of my nervous system hence cognitive and spiritual reasoning ability from harmful anthropogenic RF and EMF.
I don't get any inkling that Nuguse is, was and will have a bad day on race day from the point of view of past, present and future tenses. Yours is truly a more wild guess and assumption than mine which says that Hocker has got to be doping just for the past few weeks or before the trials in order to leap frog Nuguse only now!!!
The Olympic trials of June 20th 2024 should not provide any excuse or basis in any way for Hocker to break all laws of natural RF physics of space-time to leap frog Nuguse in such particular fashion. Neither should conventional discourses about distance running called 'peaking for major races' skew or prejudice your ability to still see that even under the context of peaking Hocker's performance at the trials 1500m final is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE without drugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He peaked with drugs, period!!!!!!!!!!!!
Learn reason and persuasion from the very best in this world---ME!!!!
And please don't blaspheme the name of God thank you!!! As if you know any better if you took God out of the equation. The world is already in a mess with God in the equation, now take God out of it and you will be frankly unimaginable.....I don't dare to imagine what you will be.......
