Boling runs a 44.94 PR. Checking the 100m splits, he was far and away the fastest in all heats thru 100m (10.70), fastest 200m (21.06) -- with 2nd fastest and 100m split, still hanging on with the fastest 1st 300m (barely), and final 100m struggle at 12.48 for 2nd in heat, 4th overall.
If he can improve that final 100m he is a threat to crack top 3
Boling's strength is his speed - there is only 1 other person out there who can go 10.00 in the same way he can. He needs to get out fast and hold on for dear life.
Plus, I wasn't able to watch the race since it's not in the TV window, but maybe he just slowed down in that last 100 since it's just a heat and he only needed to qualify?
It's on youtube but you see the final 100m face on so cannot tell is he backed off or struggled
If you have this sort of opinion, then it would logically follow that almost every "impressive" performance is doped and hence on a level playing field which gets you right back to the fact that this is extremely impressive.
Pros doping is 'normal' and expected
What's not normal is the sudden rise in suspicious high school times and progressions. Someone went from 17 high xc 5k to 14 high 5k - from junior to senior - and other massive improvements in other events. Or look at any progression from 4:10 to sub 4 in one year for a junior to senior
That's not even trying to hide it or even pretending it's a natural progression
The kid ran a 22.1 200m as a 14 year-old, into a -2.0 headwind. He’s just that talented.
As an aside, I always give juniors the benefit of the doubt. After all they have alot less at stake than pros or even collegians.

It's hard to say (I watched it yesterday) but I have to imagine he backed off. He ran a big PR and I would like to think that he has a good understanding of rounds and is just in amazing shape after several years of competition but maybe i'm just a delusional bolinghead.

Watch all of the men's 400m heats from the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials, as Michael Normal won his heat, Quincy Hall turned in the top time of 44.6...
To me, it looks like at 300m Wilson realized he was behind Bailey and Robinson and put on a surge at the top of the home stretch. Looks like he shut it down in the last 30-40 m.
He drew a tough semi. He's in with Godwin, Deadmon and Norwood. Justin Lincoln from VT ran 44.55 a few weeks ago too. (No offense to the others in the heat, I'm just going by PB times.) Very possible Quincy doesn't make it out since it's top 2 + next 3 fastest.

USA is as shameless as kenya and ethiopia with their doping. 16 year olds can't run 44.6. Not possible.

And yet one just did. It's not as if he hasn't been running low 45s on a slow irregularly shaped track a few times before...
