LRC update: We spoke to Centrowitz's agent Ricky Simms on Friday, who told us Centro injured his hamstring three days before the Prefontaine Classic and the injury would not allow him to compete at the Trials.
May have flown a little too close to the sun trying to get fit - guy has had an incredible career and will always be known as a master tactician and someone at the top of the world for an extremely long time - Olympic champ, 4th in 2012, 2x outdoor medalist, completely dominant at USAs, world indoor champ - will always be a total legend, regardless of what he does from here - his masterclass in Rio will go down as one of the gutsiest and best run races of all time
“May have flown too close to the sun”?? Ha ha ha ha. He hasn’t done anything noteworthy since his 2016 gold and that medal was one the biggest flukes in the history of the 1500.
More likely he didn’t want to embarrass himself even more than he did in 2021 before and at Tokyo.
