Whatever happens, the geniuses on this site are providing plenty of bulletin board material for a 6-time NCAA champ and NCAA record holder in 3 events. I’m astounded at the level of scrutiny…still trying to figure out where it’s coming from. It could be that most of these people live extremely miserable lives, and this is how they cope.
I love Valby and for those old enough to remember Mary Decker in her prime 82 - 85, she reminds me of a young Mary Decker in terms of talents. Valby's potential is unlimited as is her confidence. She seems to me to be almost a track version of Caitlin Clark. That said She will make the top 3, i'm not sure about the win, but seeing her race every since she lost that cross country meet to Katelyn Tuohy, Valby always runs to win.
I'm confused by your comparisons. How is Valby anything like Clark or Decker? Clark's claim to fame is that she can do it all -- shoot threes, score in the paint, rebound and pass. Valby, on the other hand, is a one-trick pony.
Ditto for Decker. It was obviously a different era, but Decker had incredible range. Valby, not so much.
I'd say you are right: Like both Decker and Clark, Valby gets attention from casual fans and divides hard-core fans.
I thought we already realized TFN didn’t place them in predicted order?
All their other form charts are clearly in ranked order. Look at men's shotput and 1500.
...
I don't know what the guy we responding to is thinking, as T&FN ALWAYS put their form charts in best to least likely to WIN. So they picked Valby to win the 5000m but place 2nd in the 10000m.

They have listed athletes in events they’re not even competing in.

No, it isn’t in ranked order.

They anticipated athletes running certain events that didn't actually register for that event. In the 20 plus years I have subscribed to T&FN their form charts HAS ALWAYS been in predicted finishing order, ALWAYS!
Let's forget the ranking order or predictions, Valby never should have entered the 5000m. Unless she is in SUB 14:35 form, she should have focused in just the 10000m. She still needs the 30:50.00 Olympic standard in her best event.
I’m sorry friend, but I want to get this off my chest. Based on Parker’s stride, she very well may be hitting her limits until it gets rectified, if it hopefully can.

To go one further, as it becomes crystal, I do not want to see her doing more speed work, until this stride issue is addressed. I don’t want to see her being forced to get faster with these stride mechanics, as I think it could be counterproductive.

So mulling this over some more, let’s use Eric Holt as an example. Maybe we all might agree Holt has some issues with his stride, that if ironed out, would improve his running economy. So if that is the case, why have they not been ironed out already?

Doesn’t she already qualify via World Athletics ranking?
Most likely result is ESP, Cranny and Schweizer. In the 1st 5K heat if Valby had the ability to kick she would not have let ESP and Schweizer blow past her. It's not in her competitive nature.
