C’mon. Who wins the Olympics setting a WR and then just sits on their haunches and stares blankly at the board?
She never gives her competitors recognition, doesn’t get excited, rarely smiles. I’m hoping that Muhammad comes roaring back.
What is this then? Immediately hugs Femke Bol with a smile, shaking her head in disbelief with her mouth agape at what she just did, muttering something to herself, like "Oh my God". Seriously, people are completely ridiculous when it comes to their criticisms of Sydney.

If SML actually lines up in the women's 200, this could be absolutely wild.
The last 3 who made it to Tokyo:
Gabby, Jenna, Anavia
All three of them are likely in trouble and here's why:
Sydney might be the favorite considering how badly she destroyed that field at the LA Grand Prix. Sha'Carri seems to be in good form after taking down the loaded Pre field. Jacious Sears ran 10.77 and might be a threat if she's healthy enough. Abby Steiner is back and starting to sharpen up again. Britany Brown has been winning almost everything. That's 5 girls who should all be able to go well under 22. Who else am I missing?
Richardson cannot run a 200 at the World level. I was thinking that SML needs to run the 400 to establish something for the relay, though the US women are pretty weak right now. A 200/400h sets up well.
SML doesn't need to run the 400m flat to point out that she's pretty fast over the flat. If she doesn't run the flat race she'll be on the relay anyway. It's happened before.
On the 200m, remember that in the last 3 Global Championships (Tokyo, Eugene & Budapest) the women's silver was won in 21.81.
To win gold, it seems you just have to be in 21.7 form. So Jackson, Richardson et al do not need to actually be in 21.4 /21.5 form to win. And it's beginning to look more and more like those winning times are in the past. We will probably be back to 21.6s and 21.7s.
Picture Kyrie Irving hitting a buzzer beater in game 7 against the Celtics and then the whole team sits on the court muttering to themselves while the crowd golf claps. She isn’t giving any help to track popularity.

But first make the whole team run an all out 400. Then see how energetic they are in their celebration.
Get over your unhealthy assumption that all people react the same way to success/failure.
And her 400mH record is nowhere near the most impressive--yes there is a big gap back to 2nd, but the 100, 200, and 400 records have stood for an eternity. Even Privalova's 60m has lasted for 30 years.
If otoh you mean the most impressive set in "this era", I would observe that it is the ONLY one set in "this era"--but again, it's not a sprint.
But you're right, boring is not the right word: crushingly boring is more accurate. There is literally not one second of free mental time during which SML pops into my head, unlike other sprinters and WR-holders, and even 400mH athletes. There are plenty of ways to transit 200 or 400m that are faster than SML. What SHOULD be interesting about it is that it is SHE who is doing it--but, like Felix before her, I give it a big meh. She is eminently suburban in attitude, a total dud, not someone about whom anything appears actually interesting. Just a palette of beige, the expected suburban pablum.
Lame. Heck, even SCR is way more interesting, and she hasn't even gone to an OG yet. Kambundji is more interesting. Tarsis Orogot and Sani-Brown are even more interesting--and Sani-Brown has to be the finals guy with the absolute least visibility EVER!!
SML, who cares. I will be watching for Bol and Dos Santos in the 400mH, Tebogo in the 100 and 200, Gardiner in the 400, etc. EVEN CHRISTIAN COLEMAN IS MORE INTERESTING.
Next!
Lmao. Sydney is way more exciting than the people you've named. I guess you enjoy watching people lose. You mentioned world records that were set in the doing era, any track fan doesn't regard them as being legit. Sydney will have you crying after the Olympics, probably will have to have someone on watch so you won't harm yourself.
Lose? TARSIS OROGOT, wins NCAA 200m heat 2 in a well-controlled 20.09. He was pumped at the finish, the final will be great.
Orogot! Someone with a real human personality, unlike the wooden SML.

The wooden SML???? Damn!!! What did she ever do to you? People criticize SML because she does not show much emotions, and they criticize Noah because he does. There is just no pleasing some of us.
