There was a race several years ago where Cheruiyot was incredibly guilty of obstruction in the last strait and no one said a word.. Ingebrigsten was going to pass him and Cheruiyot moved out from the RAIL all the way to the line between lanes 2 and 3 trying to block Jacob.
It remains the worst non call I have ever witnessed.
The video of it is in the last page, and it’d be the softest DQ ever. Jakob himself was unbothered by it and gave Tim congratulations right after.
Of course it wasn´t illegal just great fun. I wrote a "LITTLE" Paul Chelimo. The latter would have ended in line 5!
Here we agree actually. -As you may know I just care if an athlete wins in a good time (preferably in a pb). But races / racing can be fun to watch… To the “blind” thing -yes, also here I agree. -We need nuances and good reasoning…
Reading like two of his 10 000 posta about every gold or wilver medal Jakob wins reveals that he actually do care, a lot.
Debating with fans isn't the same as caring about whether he wins or not.
Most posts here assume that diving gets you ahead. Could someone actually dig up the evidence? I remember there was a data analysis with simulation for the 2016 case of Shaunae Miller-Uibo in Rio and i vaguely remember that it was something like a tradeoff where you give up the force of your last step for the dive and that is normally SLOWER except for a tiny probability to time it just right. The hips are then further back than they WOULD be if you did not dive, so the finish photo is misleading when interpreting the advantage. I can't find this analysis now and I don't want to make up the details, would seriously appreciate if someone could re-share.
If the above is correct, the current rules make perfect sense and it's a very very unlikely gamble that makes things exciting if anything. Fine with me. If i'm wrong and diving actually does work, i would like to know and support a rule change.
In my opinion, Cheruiyot won. Jakobs' head fell across the line first, but Cheruiyot got his full body across the line before Jakob. The lower half of Jakobs' legs were not across the line before Cheruiyot was completely across. Why is it like this in track and field? Is it the first to "touch" the line who wins? Why is it in other sports the ball must completely cross the line before a point is scored? I think this is something that needs serious consideration. And if you would like to see for yourself, skip to 6:41 and play in 0.25x speed. Tell me what you think.
You said it: in YOUR opinion. By now I am sure that by now (based on your silence) you already saw the photo finish picture, clearly shows Jakob's torso was going the be ahead of Cheruiyot. If your opinion hasn't changed since seeing the picture, see a psychiatrist, or an ophthalmologist.

Ive seen lesser infractions DQd. Cannot simply look the other way on that one (although they did); he kept moving wider the entire straight. Have to pick your line.
Yes, Jacob congratulated him. I thought he took it too well. Just my opinion.
And yet here you are, on every one of the threads about him.
Since you guys do the same it is a pointless observation. But that's all your observations.
If I take a 6 months hiatus off letsrun. And I check a thread about Jakob. Your name is on it. You must have been commenting on every single Jakob thread for years. I cant know for sure without researching it, but its likely. New people keep realizing youre always there, obsessing. People do NOT do the same as you. But an obsessed person is rarely aware, sadly. I agree with another poster here, seek therapy.

So it's ok for you to comment on Jakob threads but not me? Where does it say there's a limit or a quota on any thread? Are you the test?

You really have comprehension issues. The point is not that it is not ok for you to comment on a Jakob thread. The point is you ALWAYS comment on ALL Jakob threads ALL the time, while other people using this forum does it occassionaly. You are obsessing over him. Let us know if there is something you still dont understand.

But your being here isn't at all obsessive. You're a joke.
