What an awkward post race interview in Eugene. It appears he's almost in physical pain trying to deny Kerr's existence throughout it. Even Ovett would praise Coe post race. Times have changed.
It is not Jakob's "own game". He was simply stronger than everyone last year so to run fast, he had to get to the front immediately and run for these PBs. Jakob does not need to run a 327 because we don't know for sure when he is 100% what he can do in a slower race. El Guerrouj got destroyed in two races before his historic win in 04. One he faded to like 5th and another he lost to Lagat at his own "game" as you like to say (3:27.6 vs 3:27.4). Heres a link to that race
Agree with this, Kerr was at least another second better than Jakob today taking into account the big move he made to get into the lead and front running for 600m.
correct kerr is 2 seconds better than jacob. in a perfect draft race, he can break the WR now. or very nearly so.

100%, I was so impressed. When I saw that recent training session at high altitude, what impressed me the most was what he said near the end. He had just completed a 30.3 km day. OMG, that's about 19 miles.
So he has been training at altitude 18 to 20 miles a day which is what a marathoner trains, so he is short of that super speed work, and still able to run a 3:45 mile in the opener of his season coming off a serious injury, Holy Moly.
This guy is a freak of nature.
Kerr acted like he just won the Olympics he was soooooooooo happy with himself.
For Jakob's competitors, this piece of film about Jordan is appropriate here (Be very afraid)

Kerr said he is far away from peak as well.
so if both are healthy. it is going to be close,
wrightman with his A game is super dangerous.
goose looks to be bronze fav.
all of which is obvious
2 seconds is wild. He led for the final 600m, which is pretty standard. Leading is maybe .75s a lap but the last 50-100m there is basically no drafting. So he led for 500m and then Jakob went wide to try to pass. There is no perfect drag race WR. You will have 400m alone and most likely 500m. He’s in 3:45 shape maybe 3:44 had Jakob escorted him the last 600 instead. We’ll see how much better each guy gets.

well said.
here is what im talking about.
ive been paced over mile trials and could fit in right behind . a simple thing to do but most guys cannot do it well for some reason. adjust to the cadence. so you best get behind the right guy.
The most competitive fast 1500 meter race ever - Hicham El Guerrouj barely misses his own World Record while just holding off Bernard Lagat at the 2001 Ivo V...

Lolz and you all buy it, no questions asked, that Jakob was not super prepared and tuned up coming into this. Of course he's going to say this is all just preparation, lolz. And I love how Jakob always has more room to improve but if anyone beats him they must have peaked. The guy hates losing, absolutely no way he came info this without believing he was in good enough shape to beat Josh.

Jakob's ego is too sensitive and hurt. He can't let it go and admit Josh is better right now. And that means he hasn't allowed himself to process what has happened more objectively and move on. He's prisoner to Josh's mental game now. Dude is 100% in his head. Meanwhile, Josh's confidence gets cranked up with every race. Unless Jakob breaks the WR by a significant margin, Josh has nothing to fear going into Paris. He knows Jakob can't solo a WR and Josh can beat him in any other way.
Jakob is so hurt that he lost to Kerr again. It does pain him to have to admit it.
Hers the problem: Jakob is an incredible runner and his combination and strength and speed is very rare, so he’s been dominating since he was a teen! However, we are at the uppermost level of the sport and tiny things make big differences. Jacob has the slowest turnover of any elite 1500 runners I can remember seeing. He wins with guts and big balls and strength, which is why the 1500/5k double works for him.
you win with strength, you’re vulnerable to the quickness of anyone that can stay with you. Enter Kerr and Wightman, who both have an extra gear that Jacob doesn’t have. And Keri’s new strength is a real problem for Jakob and whether he knows it or not, it shows up in his interviews now. Jacob could repeat as Olympic champion, no question, but it is far, far more intersting now than it was two years ago.
And all this trash talk? All the quotes going back and forth? This is GREAT FOR THE SPORT. we need personalities who can capture the public’s attention and make great rivalries. It’s been missing since forever.
We are optimistic on Jakob´s behalf because THINGS CHANGE. As pointed out by many it was a tremendous rustbuster for Jakob considering his circumstances. If he improve as usual the next months he might be able to scare the 1500m WR.

This is just completely non sense.
Show me just one race video where other " elite 1500 runners" have beaten Jakob with a higher turnover.
And don´t come with videos from when he was a child or a teenager (even though I can find videos where he did exactly the opposite, fore example Palo Alto 2018 where Jakob destroyed all the best American milers and 5000m runners at the age of 17. Or the European Championship 1500m final 2018 where Jakob outsprinted the European elite, including Wightman and Lewandowski).
And before you come back rewatch DL Oslo and Lausanne 2023 and give your comments.
