My only source was from a morning sports show citing what a reporter who witnessed the scene was saying. I will back off from my earlier comments if multiple golfers were driving on the median.
Cite your source Sally. Nothing you’ve said is consistent with what the ESPN reporters have been saying all morning, including those noting that other golfers about 40 minutes after this incident made the exact same move Scottie did and were waived into the gates by the officers then at the scene. It is pretty evident that this was a genuine misunderstanding by all parties that was then escalated beyond all reason by the wanna-be Jack Bauer who went all psycho by “attaching” himself to a moving vehicle. I abhor law-breakers, but none more so than those who wear a badge.

He was the first one to do this after the cops arrived on the scene. ESPN is reporting that other golfers did the exact same thing 40 minutes after this incident but were waived into the golf course. It couldn’t be more apparent that the cop was at fault for this becoming the mess it is.
And “attaching” himself to the vehicle, makes the cop seem to be overzealous.

But why was Scottie the only arresstee?
It couldn’t be that the PD realized what a mess this cop just made and informed the other officers on scene what the proper protocol was, right?
Obviously race played a huge role in all this. But like the 800 pound banana, not one wants to discuss it.
From what I gather, the only way race plays into this is that it does not fit the media narrative that white policeman only use excessive force against blacks.
Everyone definitely needs to go watch Full Swing on Netflix. I'm not trying to pretend exactly what occurred this morning, but I can assure you that if people were making a list of arrogant golfers that think they are above the law, Scheffler would be at the absolute bottom of the list.
I was dumbstruck this morning seeing the news article because I was like "Holy crap was he under the influence?" because as I said above, he would be the least likely person that anything outrageous would happen to
My wife and I took our kids out for the Wed practice round. Of all the golfers we saw, Scottie was the nicest and most engaged, even while playing his practice round. Rickie Fowler and Justin Rose were not far behind. We missed alot of the morning players though.
Now compare that to Jon Rahm, who walked through the youth autograph area ignoring every single kid pleading for his autograph, didn't sign a thing or acknowledge a single fan.
As to the incident today, my law partner sat next to the officer who drove him to jail at a hearing a little while ago. Officer said the Secret Service came to get him from jail and get him back on the course.
All accounts so far both locally and nationally back Scheffler's version of an innocent misunderstanding and a cop who needlessly escalated the situation.
Also heard the corrections dept people wanted to have a mug shot of him in orange so made him wear the jumpsuit when 99% of other people in this position would have had their shot taken in their clothes.

The anti-police crew is in full force today.
When an accident occurs that involves a fatality a major investigation ensues. In DC they call it “major crash.” Traffic closures and alternate routes are constructed. This major scene requires roughly 3-4 hours to complete.
Scheffler driving on the median through areas closed due to an active police investigation gives Officers PC (probable cause) that Scheffler committed a crime. Accelerating while dragging a police officer adds salt to the situation.
The defense Scheffler potentially has: Were commands from Officers unclear and did he fully understand what he was being instructed.
All that said, he won’t see any jail time and will likely get probation or charges dropped. But, he’s far from a hero.
You guys are idiots. Scottie is not a rich jerk. He didn’t know the guy was a cop. He was wearing a parking lot attendant jacket and had total access as a player.
This excuse doesn't seem to fly when plains-clothed "police officers" serve no-knock warrants.
The arresting officer was likely a blue line gang member. You know, the folks who deface the American flag by placing a blue line horizontally through the middle of the American flag.
Attaching is the phrase police use when they grab the window molding or handle of the car as if they are going to stop the car from moving. They then "attach" this phrase to the charges to make it a Felony.
Not anti-police at all. My sister and her husband are both retired LMPD. The fact remains though that Scheffler was apparently waived through by other officers using the same route all the PGA players, media, and officials in official PGA cars were using that morning after the tragic accident, and one officer started screaming at him. It was dark, everyone was in rain gear, and the officer was not immediately identifiable as LMPD. Also, apparently not once did Scheffler play the "do you know who I am card" and instead pleaded with an ESPN reporter to get him help after being thrown against his car and handcuffed. PGA officials tried to intervene and LMPD would not allow them to speak to Scheffler or explain that he was authorized to enter the front gate.
