The biggest insult I've gotten is people complimenting my running form/how I look running while I still get beat by guys who look like they're working way harder. I'd rather be complimented on my speed rather than my "style."
Also once was working a job and found out one of the older guys I worked with grew up running track and was a bit of a trackhead back in the day. We bonded over talking about guys like Gerry Lindgren, Jim Ryun, and others from the 60s-70s era. We never really talked much about our own running but one time I was helping him move some boxes up the stairs of the office and he commented "your calves are way too big to ever be a serious distance runner." He was absolutely right but I still remember that comment.
