The cut is the exact same as the leotards you see women wearing in all those 80's workout videos.
In the 80's it was "empowering".
In 2024 it's Nike "sexualizing" their athletes.
It doesn’t look like Mihambo was/is complaining. The best part is going to be when we all find out that the Nike women’s kit designer is led by a woman.

Honestly this is my favorite part of the whole sage.
People genuinely think a bunch of sweaty fat dudes are sitting in a Nike board room going, “yo. What if we made the crotch tighter? Wouldn’t that be awesome? Okay let’s do it and just force the female athletes to wear it. Should we ask the runners first? Nah let’s just do it.”
And then actual female Nike runners come out and say, “actually the uniform is great. It’s the best uniform yet. It just looked weird on the plastic model. Nike always considers our feedback and provides us with lots of options”
and then people respond back and say, “well it’s not about the multiple options. It’s the fact that Nike would even consider this a viable uniform in the first place.”

Just comical.
Some WILL wear it, even with the other options available. They all have choices. So if SOME wear it then it is a viable choice. Don't get me wrong, it's not a good uniform. But some will still wear it.
They're all blaming the patriarchy but the funny thing is Shacarri probably helped design it
Colleen Quigley arguing with Anna Cockrell in the comments is pretty hilarious
I agree that specific design is ridiculous, but it’s far from the only option. And the reality is, Colleen and Lauren Fleshman are so beyond disconnected from the sport at this point that they’re just looking for something to b!tch about because they’re bored and irrelevant.
Can we redirect the conversation to how bad these uniforms are going to look on TV?? You won't be able to read USA from the wide shots they use for track and the detail in the coloring won't show up either. Nike dropping the ball on uniforms for every sport...
Did anyone on the design team realize that the "dromedary valley" doesn't show up on the manekin, but at the start line...? And don't even start about the long jump...
It feels intentional to me on Nike’s part- anyone with half a brain cell would see that photo or the style on the mannequin and think “hmm, this might not work.” Its selection isn’t accidental.
Any athlete or casual track & field fan (with half a brain cell) knows there’s always several options in uniform selection. (But damn, I also liked the ones worn at marathon worlds 2022).
My favorite take on these shenanigans are the humorous ones. Under Armour’s “I’m here for the comments” and Laura Green’s skit.
Despite being something of an angry blue-haired feminist, I find myself entirely too preoccupied with massive wedgie potential and those pinstripes making everyone look like goddamn Count Olaf to concern myself with any potential misogynistic implications.
I'd also like to know which specific unpaid intern is responsible for the mushroom trip that inspired Space Warrior Kipchoge, so I can give them a high five.
With 'men' like you already present there is no need to import anyone to keep up the patriarchy. PS Sorry to hear you can't handle women. Life must be so hard for you.
It was one of sport's great question marks—could a human break a 2-hour marathon? Then Eliud Kipchoge did it. What followed was international fame, and plenty of controversy.
