I was literally responding to someone who said she wouldn't compete steeple at the trials! Read the quote. "Steeplechase seems too far out of the real of possibilities as she hasn't done any skill training for that in several years, but the talent is there, but maybe not enough time to train and get a qualified mark."
And I was literally pointing out that this isn't news because she has been making videos of herself training for the steeplechase for a while and said that she was trying to make the qualifying mark. If what you meant to say is that the steeple is within her reach, that's one thing, but to say "I think the steeple is in her sights" suggests that there was this sudden revelation by you that she is now going to attempt the steeplechase, which is a day late and a dollar short.
Words have meanings, use the correct ones to convey your thoughts.
My initial comment saying she would focus on the steeple (which several people in this thread doubted) was 3 weeks old! It was posted nearly 2-weeks before her hurdle workout video, or her 800m repeat video, where she said she was going for the OT qualifier mark.
Today I replied to this 3-week old thread saying: 9:37.6, "I think the steeple is in her sights." Meaning, to all the doubters in this thread who thought she was going for the 5k/10k - its looking more like she is going for the olympic steeple.
And even if I wasn't following Olie, who cares, most track fans will not be following Ollie so its totally reasonable to act like its a revelation to them even if it might not be to her fans,
And on top of this, I think you might be wrong anyways. As far as I can tell watching her last video, she said she is chasing the steeple olympic trials mark, I've never seen her say, yet, that she will focus on the steeple as her goal for the oplympics. For all we know she will try some 5ks or 10ks too. She could just be getting the standard to keep that option open. My comment "I think the steeple is in her sights" is reasonable - it is obviously referring to the OLYMPIC steeplechase event, not a qualifier mark.

No, you are wrong, in an interview after world XC and before the videos, she specifically said that she has unfinished business in the steeple when asked what she would focus on. That was a pretty clear answer. As I pointed out, you are a day late and a dollar short as everyone else already knew what you were so eager to announce.
You saying that it's looking more like she is going to focus on the steeple brings us full circle to my original post: "Ya think? What gave you that idea, it's not like she said that she has unfinished business in the steeplechase or anything. Oh wait, that's exactly what she said."
