If Taylor Swift is into distance running as a form of training, this is the opportunity of the century for track and field for our dying sport. Look how she increased interest in the NFL. Jump on this and run with it (no pun intended).

100 percent agree... but you would have to convince Texas and Texans that it's okay if a man listens instead of speaks once in a while for this to make sense.

Only my guess, but I doubt she has run on roads lately. Bet she's been exclusively treadmill for a long time. Can you imagine the size of the crowd if word got out about her entry in a local 5K ?
well, axl rose ran pretty much on the stage when he was in his prime. 3 h shows and he prolly ran a marathon while smoking fags and belting out songs like welcome to the jungle, sweet child n the encore paradise city. its not unreasonable to think that swifty run too....
Have you ever seen a video of her performing? "Dancing" is a generous way to describe what she does. She mostly just does half squats and waves her arms around and points at stuff. Sometimes she walks across the stage. The people on the bikes in this video are getting a way better workout than she is. If there's anything she needs to do to train for her shows, it's bodyweight squats and lat raises with 2 pound dumbells
Don't forget she does that all in 3-inch heels. You need a string core.

Glad to see this thread has circled around to some realistic perspective.
You sure don't have to like Tay, but you should respect her ability to sell her music to her fan base. She's also very candid and jokes that she is an average singer and terrible dancer, who is only on stage cause she writes her own songs.
She's also not claiming to be a runner, just trying to do enough of a workout to be able to perform a long show.
In an interview with Time, Taylor Swift claimed that to prepare for her Eras tour, every day she “‘would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set list out loud, fast for fast songs and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs.’” Her set list is 180 minutes. Even assuming an average mile pace of 13:00, she would have averaged over 13 miles of running a day. So clearly, she’s lying. What’s strange is that pro runners are playing along with it. Citius Mag posted about Swift’s supposed training regimen on Instagram, and in the comments pro runners like Nikki Hiltz and Aisha Leer are responding positively. What’s more, there isn’t a single comment questioning the validity of Taylor Swift’s statement. Weird.
I personally know how hard it is to sing live (not lip sync) and stay on pitch (and sound decent) and dance hard at the same time but only for a few minute long stretches. I have no problems believing what she did, considering how much money is at stake (1st tour to ever gross over a $1 billion). That being said, it was probably the peak week in her "marathon" training, similar to how Bill Rodgers ran 201 miles in a week, but we don't say that's what he did every week.
Also, you're probably overestimating the speeds. I mean the average 5k pace for a 33yr old woman might already be close to the 13:00 min/mile pace on its own based on what has been mentioned on the web.
If I had to train like a member of a boy band who sang live without lip syncing and sang well, this is exactly what I imagined I would do. These are incredible athletes, imho.

For someone who is supposedly a marketing genius I'm surprised this treadmill practice concert hasn't been packaged and sold yet
Ever seen the Stones in concert? Mick is all over the stage and at a higher level than Swift. Mick has said he jogs 5 miles each day in preparation for a tour. This I believe. All of you Swifties...sorry but she's not doing anywhere near 90. I'm guessing 30 - 45 minutes of 'cardio' on a treadmill, max. At a slow AF pace.

Would be bigger than the crowds Forest Gump and Rocky were starting to attract during the peak of their stardom.
Nobody claims taylor claimed to run 90 mile weeks. They simply claimed Taylor used a treadmill to train for her tour. She sang while running on a treadmill. Where did it say 90 mile weeks anywhere?
