When you demand action and promise financial punishment if you don't get your way what do you call it?
You're whining about Musk not censoring Twitter the way you want and you think he's the snowflake.
Get a life.
It’s called, “voting with your dollars.”
Or did MLK, Jr. and crew blackmail the Montgomery Bus Line by refusing to give them money?
“I don’t go to Chick-Fil-A because I don’t support Dan Cathy’s anti-LGBTQ attitudes— oh look at me, blackmailing Chick-Fil-A”
What advertisers are doing with Twitter is no different from the right's boycott of Bud Light. And unlike blackmail, boycotts are perfectly legal and protected by the First Amendment.

These are not individual companies just arriving independently at a decision to pull advertising from X. This is an ADL/Media Matters/Lobby effort to pressure these companies to do so or face boycotts of their own.

I support free speech not woke silencing. Musk is not antisemitic, but the media has put a target on him because they are filled with Marxist, leftist, and antiemetic persons who hate America, hate freedom, and hate people that go against the Democratic Party controlled narratives to stay in power.
That's the most nearly perfect post I have ever seen.
"woke" - check
"Marxist" - check
"leftist" - check

"Dem controlled narratives" - check
Maybe you could have thrown a "sheeple" or two in there - but dang, that was a great post!
Honestly, the post by TMADDDHASFNE is very close to accurate, except the stuff about the Democratic Party. It's more accurate to refer to "The Party," which is made up of Democrats and Republicans, both of whom are bankrolled by corporate interests.
All of our major knowledge-producing institutions (education, journalism, science) have adopted ideas that can be traced to Marxism. There are many problems with Marxist-derived ideas, but the most important one is that it allows a small group of people to consolidate power (the philosopher kings who have the magic recipe for utopia), and it does so by chipping away at liberal ideas and institutions. Liberal ideas and institutions are meant to prevent power grabs.
At the same time, our government, which has been run by neoliberal war mongers for decades, has found a way to thread "progressive" ideas into their efforts to keep the military industrial complex lucrative. Don't think it's a good idea to bankroll the war in Ukraine? You're a Russian asset and a shill for Putin! Were you opposed to shutting down small businesses across the country during the pandemic while Jeff Bezos got much, much richer? You're a grandma-killing conspiracy theorist.
Elon isn't a perfect man, of course, but he was beloved by the media until he started disagreeing with the uniparty. The whole thing magnified when he bought Twitter. This insane , totalitarian idea that free speech is a right-wing value took hold, and Elon publicly opposed it. The fact that people can't identify an obvious propaganda campaign is baffling to me.

This interview was disturbing to me at many levels. I actually woke up during the night thinking about it.
First, I saw a broken man. He tried to battle, the battle of the century and it feels that he has recently come up with a realization. I don’t care how right (or wrong) you are but telling your major advertisers to F off doesn’t work in any parallel universes when 90% of your revenues come from advertising. Disney, IBM and Apple and others who pulled their advertising will now never come back to his platform. CEOs of multinationals have a bit more ego than that to return to him.
It felt like I was witnessing a suicide.
He said he gave up about the dangers of AI and he has now moved on to “let’s simply witness this thing play out”. In his mind, this is probably akin to suicide.
The guy has had so much pressure. He is not a robot.
Anyway, back to free speech, which he was trying to save.
He naively thought that if you change the leadership of a media company AND get rid of the cancerous cells within the organization (backed by the constitution) that it would be enough to “solve” the issue.
However, what he failed to assess is that even though at least half the population probably wants free speech, a big percentage of the people (who control the household budget) do not want free speech at this point. So if your media company requires advertising to survive, then you are dead.
The question is. Why free speech?
Free speech was abolished over and over again in various societies. Why?
Founding fathers knew that this would come under threat, so they built it in the constitution.
The question is the threat of the abolishment of free speech from the rulers or is the threat from the population itself?
It may be from the population itself.
The minority will understand the potential repercussion of abolishing free speech (but the majority may not since it’s uncomfortable for common people to hear opposing views. It requires thought. Challenging your ideas…. A lot of difficult stuff) and the minority would need some sort of legal framework to fight it off.
The problem is that when media companies are either funded by the government or advertising (both were funding twitter it seems) then free speech within that media company is not possible.
He underestimated that. He would have needed to change the revenue steam dramatically and fast.
He is seeing that now.
It seemed pretty obvious to Sorkin.
F@ck…
What now?
Maybe Elon is right. We are about to see something bigger play out soon (AI dominance). It may not matter anymore anyway. We will have different (more important) challenges ahead.

I must have missed the whole free speech is a right-wing value thing... when did that happen? All I've seen is butthurtness from companies who don't like how he's running Twitter and are choosing to advertise somewhere else, and butthurtness from Elon for being called out when he does something stupid which is very often. The free speech issue can go into the list of things that never happened.

Hence I had trouble sleeping
The problem is people fall for what they see on the surface. Spend some time in the san fran VC circles and you'll start to hear some interesting stories about Elon the egomaniac. He's angry about AI because he's not the one leading it. Everything you see happening to him can be explained by his fkd up ego. He's just another too rich to fail grade A ahole, that happens to also love attention.
Exactly how "huge" is this pedo population among the elites of which you speak? And do you have any credible sources to back up exactly how huge this problem is? ("some entertainer said so" is not a credible source)
I don't know if it extrapolates to the wider population of 'elites' but at least 20% of Republican House Speakers elected this century have been pedos.

If he were a normal business owner (one not worth $250 BILLION) I would say he was an idiot for saying that about advertisers. As it is, I still think he's an idiot, but his ripping on advertizers isn't evidence of that. That's just evidence of his insane wealth. He doesn't need them. He likely doesn't even really care if X (formerly Twitter) goes down the tubes or not. He's a fool and he doesn't know how to run that social media platform, but he's so insanely wealthy that it doesn't matter. $250 billion dollars in just an absolutely insane amount of money.
