I have been to three races there, including this year's Virginia Invitational where parking on premises was permitted. The course is excellent, and is a former farm that a wealthy owner ps it to be used for XC races, including high school races.
I love two hours away and the drive down 29 paralleling the Blue Ridge is beautiful. For those traveling north on the way home stop in Madison 15 miles from Charlottesville at Yoder's Market - a great store in rural Virginia. In any event, I am not going this time because of the bus arrangement. The course can only be reached via very narrow road in a semi rural residential area with large properties, about a mile long, with a somewhat rickety one lane bridge at the entrance to the property. I thought UVa would fix that bridge for the meet but not so. Two buses going opposite directions will not fit on the road. Parking is on 29 at the Fashion Square Mall which is not that big, and I don't see it having much parking capability. My daughter when in grad school there used to go to Richmond with her friends to shop because the Mall in Charlottesville is so small. If parking is full, I would likely drive 3 miles north to the WalMart parking lot and Uber it back to the mall and buses. But all in all too much of a pain. If staying in a local hotel, I would likely Uber there as well. Make no mistake, it is a very good course which has better footing than it initially appears, and if the weather is Ok, times will be quick. Too bad there is no on site parking. The grounds are near the airport on Earlysville, and ypu can avoid the traffic on the city.
