Also "NN Running Team" how much is it a team? I thought it was just a big sponsor group of collective nike groups and individuals. Aren't Cheptegai, Bekele, Kipchoge all on NN Running?
Mo was a good partner for Grant at BTC. It'll be tough to find training partners that can keep up with him!
God that's clever. I always say I'd give you a free t-shirt if you were a registered user but maybe you should get one despite your registration status.
Frerichs looks to be spending alot of time in park city, according to her instagram. Maybe she’s leaving too? Seems like her and Schweizer have really had problems with recurring injuries.
Maybe Rojo convinced him to switch to the steeple and he’s moving to Baltimore to train.
God, I just turned off the baseball game and saw this thread. The running world never ceases to amaze.
Can't believe he wouldn't even run it by me. Is he on his way? Should I blow up the inflatable mattress in my kid's play room so he has somewhere to sleep?
Never mind. I briefly forgot that Eugene is in the middle of nowhere. If he drives nonstop, he'll get here on Monday right? :)
On a somewhat still joking note, when I saw this news I immediately called Jonathan Gault. I hope he doesn't view me calling him at 11 pm as being an overbearing boss. More like two buds talking about big news.
I said to him (somewhat jokingly), "So this means Fisher is scared of Justyn Knight?"
(I honestly believe this is more of FIsher is just yet another pro not happy about having to move to Eugene)
Jon then emphatically stated something like "Justyn Knight is no Grant Fisher". I said, "You're right. Knight is better. Knight won an NCAA xc title, Fisher didn't. Knight ran low 1250s onlike 60-70 mpw and no altitude - Fisher didn't."
So my sidebar is this, "Who's the bigger talent Fisher or Knight?"
I can't believe someone so smart is doing something so destructive to his future performance and earnings. Good thing Evan did not leave after he got injured the first time.
Why do people change their work situation?
The same applies to athletics.
people posting have no idea about what it is like on the inside of BTC.
BTC is not the same BTC that it was and what distance fans think it is.
Jerry sucker punched all of the athletes with his selfish move to U of O. Everything within BTC must have been turned inside out with that one. Then he changed the altitude periodization on the group.
Dont be surprised when more leave. Jerry isn’t giving the time to these pro athletes that they need. All the while collecting multiple paychecks and one size fits all coaching.
Fisher probably gave things a chance and didn’t like how it was going.
He probably learnt a lot about himself when he was injured and why he got injured.
He knows what he needs to do and how to do it better than any armchair coach on these boards.
Look at the departures from BTC over the past year and a half. The women aren’t getting top recruits… any recruits. Most recently Cooper has left, Grant has left. they must think the real risk is to stay.
As an outsider, I figured that they would make it work, but Bowerman didn't bring any new help for the staff. The locals kept saying "Eugene is great for pro runners". Clearly something has changed for a lot of former Bowerman athletes to leave so abruptly. That group used to be huge even three years ago.
It's less help, right? Pascal Dobert - the assistant - also didn't like the move and went to Puma's NC group.
Can we stop the nonsense about Grant going to Bain or any other sponsor before the 2024 Olympics? No way he's not still under Nike deal through the Olympics.

So it's smith?
or he's taking a flyer on Salazar... the nbc coverage would be fantastic!
If he wants to train with the very best coach in the U.S., the coach with the most credentials, the coach with actual Olympic medal athletes, he could only choose
Probably disapointed with his overuse fracture which cost him some big racesand chance to medal, big appearance fees and bonuses. Also the realization that his mileage was too high, no chance of beating Nuguse at 5000with much more than 85/week as peak weekly volume.
Then their is the marketing issue of limiting himself to Nike rather than sorting other offers.
This is the truth. When Shelby bit into that burrito it was like Eve biting the apple and then she handed the apple to Adam, and Shelby handed the burrito to…………and their eyes were opened and their innocence lost.
Grant left because I added Justin Knight to the roster and Grant and Justin don't like each other. Grant gave me an ultimatum after Justin being added to the roster was announced, which was too late so he left.
No. I believe the real reason he left is he was furious that Sean McGorty didn’t give him a spot in the 10K. He probably perceived it as Sean not being a team player, and he was probably pissed that Jerry didn’t intervene on his behalf. I suspect his friendship with Sean is damaged beyond repair because of it, and he did not want Sean as a teammate anymore.
