p.s. The fans loved it and the athletes loved it. Would you really, honestly, have flown to this meet if it had been in Chicago or New York? I get it, those places are easier to travel to, but still, 99.9% of track fans aren't flying to any meet, regardless of where you put it.
This is a global sport with fans all around the world. I attended seven DLs this summer as well as all nine days of Budapest. Eugene was too expensive a proposition and a logistical nightmare (Local airport to LHR to Denver to Portland to Eugene). But you're right, many European "fans" wouldn't fly to Eugene.
