Titties and Beer, by Frank Zappa.
This brilliant, metaphorical treatise on existential dread and staring into the abyss is one of the deepest philosophical songs I've ever heard.

Digging your screen by the Blow Monkeys This was one of my favorite songs from the 80’s. I recently learned that it was about people dealing with AIDS.
Then there's Jiminy Hendrix who actually sang "S'cuse me while I kiss this guy" on stage, confusing the hell out of everyone.
Is it a mondegreen or not? Its both.
Would someone please explain to me how it is that the deaf, dumb, and blind kid sure plays such a mean pinball?
Baby Shark
Easy. He plays by sense of smell. He's got crazy flipper fingers. Never see him fail.. THAT ...
Thx. I won't get fooled again.
Wow, can't get nothing by you guys. Guess who played American Woman.
I'd love to change the world, but I don't know what to do. So I'll leave it up to you.
Of all of the "save the planet/humanity" songs this is the antithesis of them all. It speaks the poignant truth. Mankind cannot save the world. None of these musical collaborations are about achieving a higher peace. They are all about self-serving narcissism. All of them, except this one.
This song belongs on the "best opening line" thread. It also belongs on the "best guitar solo" thread. Its exquisite. Alvin Lee hit it out of the ballpark.

Oh, bro, we are talking rock anthems here. That is a pillar on which the holy house of rock is built.
I agree with you in large part, but ..... here it comes..... you have to admit that they nonetheless throw in some biting social commentary. You know, that part about "Freaks and hairies, dikes and fairies". I mean, not exactly politically correct by today's standards.
I took it as their statement that they don't like what's been going down (their list continues), but like you say, it's not their role to change it. But again, they do condemn a bunch of things.
Would be interesting to contrast it with a song like this one from the previous decade where this classic, suggest forget saving the world - save yourself, and do it by creating your own private utopias. And make no mistake about it - this song was much discussed and heralded in its time.
This could be a whole thread...

Here's another one that says much the same kind of thing.
First verse:
"I love the lie and lie the love
A-Hangin' on, with push and shove
Possession is the motivation
that is hangin' up the God-damn nation
Looks like we always end up in a rut (everybody now!)
Tryin' to make it real, compared to what? C'mon baby!"
Christine 16 by KISS and You're 16 by Ringo Starr seem less innocent now.
How about this one. I never realized it was about a guy from Edmonton talking about his lover named Deno.

Not familiar with those, but there was that one about 'how about a kiss for your cousin dupree?' The Steely Dan song.
