i suppose the idea is that Kersee could never coach anyone successfully in the 1500 because he's not a "distance coach." like only wetmore or schumacher or diljeet or or that nau guy witht the odd accent etc. could have helped a 1:55 runner go 4:03. this certainly would be implied by a mountain of the other bs you read on these boards.
i agree that it should have been a light lift to get her to that point. most decent college coaches could have done it. don't forget Mu has expressed disliking endurance training, thus setting up her biggest obstacle to success in that event.
kudos to Kersey for being the one to finally convince her that she'll need to become a better 1500 runner to break 1:53. Mu called him a genius and I guess it took one to convince her. 49 is enough speed, but she's very undertrained at the other end of the spectrum. she's always been an amazing talent, but maybe he go through to her that it was time to grow up a bit and be slightly more porfessional about her approach to this. for that i don;t apologize to him, but i do thank him....because i love watching this kid kick ass and she should be just getting started!
