Valby was disappointed tuohy didn’t show up to take her whooping in the heat of the night.
Valby was disappointed that Tuohy got an NIL deal and she didn't until now. Tuohy runs in races with pros and Valby doesn't. Valby is always MIA until this last fluke of a 5K title she got. Nike will be expecting alot for the money they're paying. Time to put down the makeup and start racing
Guaranteed Valby will sell more shoes than Nike-sponsored Degitu Azimeraw.
Maybe I missed it I'm not going to read back through this thread, but why did Valby not enter the 5000 for the USATFs?
Good luck to her. I would like to see what she is capable of while being injury free for a bit. I'm wondering if she increases her mileage if that will also inrease her injuries. I would have to think that there is an upper limit to how good someone can get by doing such a large amount of training on an ARC trainer. Then again, I don't know that I fully understand the whole physiology behind training that way.
While I understand that since she is Nike's first TF NIL athlete there is some reason for all of this press. But we are going a little overboard on thinking there are so few TF athletes making money with NIL.
I don't think people understand how much this is changing the game for EVERYONE.
I'm aware of many Power 5 athletes who barely qualify for nationals but making over $100k a year.
Some schools are just giving $8k to every single athlete, walk on or scholarship.
While the deals that Valby and Tuohy got are more like the sponsor deals they get as pros it's dumb to think that they both didn't already have lots of NIL stuff going on. How did Valby have $20k to lose?

She needs a break to completely get over her injuries. She only ran six races since cross country - two indoors and four outdoors (one invitational, SECs, Regionals, and NCAA Champs). With an extended break they can hopefully figure out what is wrong. She has plenty of years left to run USATFs and make a US team or two (or three, or ...)
If she gets over her injury and has Flomena Asekol to train with now, Valby will be a serious force in the fall. I think she needs to be considered the favorite for the XC title in November. Considering how little running she does, she has an insane amount of natural talent.

Kate Tuohy runs in pro races? She finished 7th in a race with mediocre college runners. Then she mimicked Roberto Duran and said "no mas" when she was to run in the 5000.
She ran Millrose (8:35), Dr Sanders (4:006), TrackFest at Mt Sac (15:03) this year with seasoned pros. Sorry not mediocre. And all you can up with is one day when she had a bad race. What has Valby accomplished in her racing outside a few NCAA meets? Squat

You say this is squat?!" She looks like Kipyegon in this race. A generational talent.
Florida's Parker Valby finished in 15:30.57 to win the women's 5000m final at the 2023 NCAA outdoor track and field championships. Watch the full race here. ...
Interesting that she's represented by Kimbia, which has long represented many BTC athletes. I would say this means Valby could be bound for BTC once she goes pro -- except that I can't imagine her ever doing well in the BTC system, given her fragility.
