CC got left in the blocks. Not a good hold, it was awkward—and because of it, he was not in drive position. Interestingly, if he misses that initial drive position, his accel is off, and his race is toast, as he never achieves vmax..
Technically true, but he ran a 9.9~ish in a race that was won by Ackeem Blake who actually false started causing the timing system to break but it wasn't called back so there was no official race time.
Didn't feel like we learned anything about Mu today, to be honest.
If she can't run 1:58.7 comfortably six weeks out from worlds something's really wrong
Well, we learned why Kersee didn't let Mu run any races before now. She wasn't in good enough shape.
Mu's pacing was off. But let's say her pacing was perfect and she ran 1:57.7 today . That still puts her 2 seconds behinds Keely's recent 1:55.7.
Can Mu make up 2 seconds in 2 months? It won't be easy.
She put 2-2.3 seconds on 3 women who have run 1:59.01-1:59.26 recently and she did most of that in the last 150. She’s in better than 1:57.7 shape and when you’re as talented as Mu, 2 months is more than enough time to go from 1:57 to 1:55 shape.

That's assuming Keely will still be running 1:55s two months from now, she has raced a lot this year and there's no guarantee of that. I generally agree though, I think it is going to be a battle.
That was stunning by Hughes. He hadn't even broken 10.0 this year yet
If you factor in the wind with his times, he’s had a steady progression so far this year. But this was a very big step up for him after being a 9.9 guy for a few years.

Keely ran her season's best at the Olympics and the Worlds ( as did Athing, I think).
