Look in the comments of that link, too. He added comments as Ajay Dosaj and the language is identical to ventolin/calculo language on LRC: "line of fit" and using "3'26" instead of "3:26"
Vent seriously suggested one of the funniest things I have ever heard on this board, that Asafa Powell ran fast for 100m in Rieti because the facility and immediate surroundings had more trees, and therefore more oxygen!😂😂😂
RIP Vent, you gave me a laugh that I will never forget!!👍
Interesting....
It would certainly help a distance runner like Daniel Komen.
Would an abundance of trees help shield the wind for sprinters?
Would extra oxygen pre-race in any way benefit the sprinters??????
Maybe you could tell us your opinions Sprintgeezer?
I recall that I once was able to supply some footage of the 1967 Ryun/Keino L.A. 1500m race that he hadn't see before, and he was appreciative because he was obsessed with that race.
Didn't find that thread in particular, but did come across this one in which he (or, at least, someone posting as ventolin) claims that his father was Keino's "immediate boss" as a policeman in Kenya.
"let me add new flavor to story kip worked for police force & my pa was his immediate boss kip was given little time off prior to '68 - he was holding down a job & had to work most of the day - chasing cattle-rustlers he was given a coupla off/day to train during 9 - 5, but other training was on his own time ryun, on other hand was more or less full-time athlete ( albeit at college ) kip, however, did get a big advantage to ryun prior to '68 years to help him train : my pa was told by hq to provide kip with a coupla chickens/week as govt contribution all this got kip good enough to break the 3k/5k WRs - former lasting 7y in '68, govt told pa to let kip off more police work & train nearer full-time ( but not completely before training camp ) & throw in an extra chicken/week after '68, he was back to full-time police work until '72"

A lot of us have been wondering for a long time what happened to our old friend Ventolin, who entertained us with his calculations and intrinsics for nearly 2 decades here, and suddenly stopped shortly before the Doha World C...
Are you sure that's him? I think in some of those posts, he was asked if he was "YMMV" & the poster said no.
Why would someone who's had a registered name for years, maybe even a decade or more, all of sudden change their user name & become deceptive about it? 🤔
Usually regular posters who have used the same username for years keep the name because theirreputation, good or bad, is associated with it.
It would be like "rekrunner" or "fisky," long time posters of this forum, changing their user name & keeping quiet about it.
I'm pretty sure. Both usernames are earnest meat promoters who claim to be elite, older age group climbers and have similar writing style. I haven't seen XY (or X Y) deny being YMMV, but I could have missed that. Why would he change his user name? He was probably permabanned (wejo can clarify?). Tell me how this isn't YMMV... even citing a climber for nutrition:

Damn Ventolin was def a Letsrun GOAT. We need a hall of fame.
Love a guy like that who can just delve into something many find uninteresting and make a whole little world out of it. Makes life more interesting with people who have passion.
He was a weird dude. I remember he used to troll under different usernames. Sometimes he'd forget to switch accounts so he'd write his ventolin posts with calculations under a name like someonehadtosayit.

It’s ridiculous on many levels, including the assumptions that there is meaningfully more oxygen in Rieti than at other tracks, that it comes from more trees, that there are in fact more trees, that the body could uptake more of the available oxygen, that it would have a meaningful effect on sprinting, etc etc etc.
While I, like all the other kids in grade 8 shop class, used to get a rush from inhaling pure oxygen from the welding tanks, that is not even close to what Vent proposed.
Bledman 9.89This time, it looked like it may have been real:http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/248260-adidas-Golden-South-Classic-2012/video/637185-M-100-H02Although he was an Adidas athlete at an Adidas event, that run looked...
Very fitting that his tribute/remembrance thread would consist of the typical LetsRun posters arguing like children over various claims but also the arguments would be well written and almost obsessively organized but also with name calling and insults.

Good one, assuming the event was not held in the evening when trees don't produce O2.

Yes, totally, and it was super obvious (like when Matt and 430 tried that)
